It is also known as open directory project. (ODP) It is an Open Directory run by AOL (formerly Netscape) that lists websites along with a small description next to them. It is considered by a lot of people to be the start of the Internet. ODP has maintained its policy of free site submissions for all types of site  It means that there is no fee for site submission to the OPEN directory.  We have to submit our site manually according to our own decided categories and we have to be very care ful in this process because submiision to wrong category can effect the ranking of the website in search results.
