DUCATI DESMOSEDICI RR GRAND PRIX REPLICA

A couple of weeks ago I was at the Imola circuit with some friends at an event to promote the new management of the circuit, there were several motorcycles displayed and available for a test circuit.
Thanks to my friend Christiano and his father Marco, I had the opportunity to test the Ducati Desmosedici RR.

It is a bomb.

It is fantastic.

The dream of a true Grand Prix replica became a reality. The Demosedici RR is the first-ever road-going motorcycle to offer such a stunning wealth of performance and technology. Derived from the Grand Prix racing Desmosedici GP6, the same bike which competed in the MotoGP World Championship, the Desmosedici RR is the ultimate expression of the most extreme Moto GP racing machine today.
Today, reading between the hub, I found "Most Expensive Motorbikes in the World" by Mark Knowles, a nice Hub! But Mr. Mark Knowles has forgotten the Ducati Desmosedici RR.

This bike is something special, not only is very expensive, but it is also a true racing bike!
I swear! I had never driven a motorcycle so powerful.
I struggled to describe in English the feelings that gives you the wheel of a bike like that!
In two laps of the circuit of Imola I was not able to fully open the trotle.
It seems that the bike wants to throw you off every change of gear, but in reality the Ducati is on rail and bend like a 125cc.

The dream of a true GP replica has finally come true and the Desmosedici RR will be the first-ever road-going motorcycle to offer such a stunning wealth of performance and technology that comes directly from Ducati’s experience in MotoGP.

The RR derives from the Ducati Corse Grand Prix racing Desmosedici GP6, the same bike with which Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau competed with in the 2006 MotoGP World Championship.

The body design and the aerodynamics faithfully reflect the Desmosedici GP6.  The color scheme, the fittings, the materials used in its construction as well as the technical features of the powerful four-cylinder desmodromic engine built by the Borgo Panigale factory engineers, leave no doubts whatsoever: the Desmosedici RR is the ultimate expression of the most extreme MotoGP racing machine today.

When a motorcycle has a retail price that compares unfavorably with a rural home in Iowa, it makes one wonder why it costs so much.

Here’s a partial list of the many high-end components on the luscious Desmosedici RR.

  • Sand-cast aluminum crankcases and cylinder heads
  • One-piece forged steel crankshaft
  • Sand-cast magnesium cam-drive cover and alternator casing
  • Pressure die-cast magnesium-alloy oil sump, cam covers and clutch cover
  • Titanium connecting rods
  • Titanium intake and exhaust valves with CrN (chromium nitride) coating
  • Marchesini forged and machined magnesium wheels
  • Specially developed Bridgestone tires, with tread pattern, construction and profile unique to the D16RR, including the oddball (but GP-accurate) 16.0-inch rear
  • Öhlins 43mm FG353P pressurized fork with TiN-coated sliders
  • Öhlins shock with rebound, low/high speed compression adjustment and hydraulic preload adjustment
  • Brembo monoblock (one-piece) front brake calipers and 330mm rotors (same spec as used in rainy MotoGP races) with radial master cylinder and remote (left handlebar) adjuster
  • Carbon fiber subframe and bodywork
