As a woman who was raised in the South, I wouldn't dream of ever leaving my house without wearing a full complement of undergarments. My mama would be mortified!

Good quality undergarments should make you look sleek, smooth, polished and well put together. They improve your posture and make you appear slimmer. They make you feel pretty, comfortable and confident.

It makes sense to invest in high quality undergarments that look and feel wonderful, and function beautifully. So get rid of the panties that are so full of holes they resemble a wedge of Swiss cheese; throw out the bra with the broken strap that you've tying into a knot in order to keep it on your shoulder; and get ready to buy some pretty, sexy undies that will make you look GREAT!

Start with the Basics

Let's start with the basics. You will of course need plenty of panties, several good bras, at least one full- or half-slip, a pair of thermal underpants, a panty girdle and a regular girdle.

Once you've built a really good basic underwear wardrobe, you'll want to continue to add to it and include some specialty underthings like special function bras (strapless, backless, halter, etc.), matching sets of bras and panties, camisoles, waist cinchers, body stockings and one piece slimmers.

Make sure you buy plenty of your basic cotton BWPs (big white panties). These provide excellent ventilation, and are so comfortable when you're on your period. Comfortable, well-ventilated drawers are a must have for any woman who wants to look good and feel good.

Size Definitely Matters

Before you order bras or panties from an online store, be sure you know your correct sizes. Many women think they know what size they should be wearing, but they are W-R-O-N-G...and, believe me, it shows. Wearing the wrong size underwear is unattractive, uncomfortable and unnecessary.

To determine your correct bra size, you will need to wear an unpadded bra. If you find manipulating measuring tape difficult, you may want to enlist the assistance of a helper. To find your correct band size, take a deep breath and exhale-this will help you select a bra size that will offer you the support you need- then measure the area around your bra directly below your bust. You can find your cup size by measuring the fullest part of your bust.

Measure both your waist and your hips to find your correct panty size. To find your waist measurement, measure your natural waistline. Find your hip measurement by measuring the fullest part of your hips.

Be sure to consult the size chart for the retailers you purchase from. If you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to email or call the retailer to discuss them. Most foundation stores and the lingerie departments of major department stores have experienced consultants who can help you find the perfect size undergarments.
