Dating services and research

Dating services for single professionals are popular online. However, some sites such as Match.com may have limitations or not provide the detailed research of knowing a potential match as thoroughly as possible.

Busy single professionals who are responsible for the operations of a company may find it annoying or discouraging to spend time wading through too many potential matches only to come out disappointed in the process.

There are dating services that provide highly personalized services and take care of many of the details and provide a thorough, no-pressure introduction in a safe and friendly atmosphere.

How is it possible to find quality singles and a quality dating service?

Selective-type events such as dinners are arranged with only a small number of people in mind. Services that provide more intimate-style events usually are careful in screening the people who will attend.

Small firms may work harder

Services with only a few business partners or a small number of employees may choose to remain small to keep their overhead costs low and to provide the maximum amount of hands-on service for clients.

Research is recommended as well.

“Go online and do your research,” said May Hui, founder of Catch Matchmaking in Los Angeles.
She told me about the power of personal referrals in a recent interview.

“Ask friends and family for referrals.  If there are complaints about a company online, beware.  Interview your matchmakers and see if you're compatible."

May said the relationship between the matchmaker and prospective client is important to make all parties comfortable with such a personal service.

“Is that someone you are comfortable with in telling them your honest history?” May advised.
“Find out how many introductions they promise you.  What is their success rate?  Make sure you know how they define success.  How thorough are their interviews with you, because that's how thorough they are with your potential match. “

As with most businesses and services, May advised to shop both price and value.

“Are their fees reasonable?  Shop around on prices and the service that you'll get.  Call them and see how they answer the phone...are they courteous?  Do they want your business?  Do they want to earn it? Who are their testimonials?"

Another question to consider asking when doing research on a potential matchmaking service is to find out why they their particular business. May Hui and co-founder Katie Chen both launched Catch Matchmaking after working in the corporate world where available matches seemed limited to the corporate events and lifestyle.

Finally, an idea for employers is to do the research and provide information to employees. Why get this personal? One reason is employees satisfied in their personal lives can generate greater productivity in the workplace.

Good hub! I'm a pretty good matchmaker. Maybe I should go into business?

You never know. Seriously. It may be worth delving into and learning what reputable companies offer.
