David Archuletta - Idol Contestant - Signs with 19 Records and Jive Records

David Archuleta has signed with Jive Records. The Idol experience is over, except for the tour, and now the real voting begins; with fans pocketbooks. As Daughtry showed many, it is not necessary to win in order to be a WINNER. The name of the game is establishing a base of fans and then building on it.

David A. certainly has a good start on the fan base aspect as he sang into the hearts of so many young teens and tweens, all to the approval of parents who loved his clean cut look. That fan base was not enough, some how, to pull him into the top spot - something sure seemed amiss to me about that but that would be a different article.

David Cook had such a wide appeal and was unusually original for an Idol contestant, this won him the American Idol title, but do those people buy songs and records?

Now it is up the masters at Jive and 19 Records to work there magic in bringing 17 year old David into the main stream with hopefully a tail and train of admiring young teens with him. Hopefully David's exposure to the world will widen his eyes and mind to things beyond innocence. If it does not he better plan on singing mostly at Disney parks, not that it would be such a bad career; but that is not at all what Jive and 19 Records have in mind.

So its clean cut David and approving parents first out of the gate in the race to get market share from this years Idol group. It will be interesting to see what market 19 records and Jive first market David as to move him out of the teen range and keep with those young ladies as they grow up David will need to move into a more mature market level.

Let's check back in about six months and see where things stand as the two David's continue their "friendly" battle of the Idols.
