Baha'i Day 2
Today ends the second day of the Baha'i 19-day Fast. The central princple of the Baha'i Faith is the Oneness of Humanity. The period of fasting is for prayer and meditation. The quotation I chose today to reflect and mediate on is one of my favorites. I'v read it several times and it often brings me to tears. It's powerful. Here it is:
"O Children of Men! Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust? That no one should exalt himself over the other. Ponder at all times in your hearts how ye were created. Since We have created you all from one same substance it is incumbent on you to be even as one soul, to walk with the same feet, eat with the same mouth and dwell in the same land, that from your inmost being, by your deeds and actions, the signs of oneness and the essence of detachment may be made manifest. Such is My counsel to you, O concourse of light! Heed ye this counsel that ye may obtain the fruit of holiness from the tree of wondrous glory." - Baha'u'llah

I know right... it's a fact no matter how you look at it, where you look for it, what you see in it, we are still the same things. People. People rule! Some just suck at it.

Prejudicial people like to think of the planet as consisting of different races, Asian, Black, Caucasian, Native American, Hispanic, Indian, so and so forth. But in truth there is only one people: they are called human. And we come in many colors.
