Days 6 to 12 of Baha'i Fast 2008
For the past six days, I have not been able to sit in front of the computer long enough to post about my fasting experience. My wife left for China this morning and we have been busy getting her ready for her trip. Instead of making new hubs for each day of the fast, I will just make a new capsule on this hub here.
Another belief of the Baha'i Faith is the Harmony of Science and Religion.
The Baha'i Writings claim that true science and true religion are not in conflict and never will be. The son of the founder of the Baha'i Faith, `Abdu'l-Bahá, stated that a society ruled by science alone will spiral into obsessive materialism. Likewise, religion without science will inevitably result in superstition.
From the Writings of `Abdu'l-Bahá:
"If religion were contrary to logical reason then it would cease to be a religion and be merely a tradition. Religion and science are the two wings upon which man's intelligence can soar into the heights, with which the human soul can progress. It is not possible to fly with one wing alone! Should a man try to fly with the wing of religion alone he would quickly fall into the quagmire of superstition, whilst on the other hand, with the wing of science alone he would also make no progress, but fall into the despairing slough of materialism. All religions of the present day have fallen into superstitious practices, out of harmony alike with the true principles of the teaching they represent and with the scientific discoveries of the time." (`Abdu'l-Bahá, Paris Talks, p. 143.)

Sandra!!!!
How's it going? Nice to see you! I haven't been around for a few days now so I have been missing you all. Where is Dj and Joe?

So very true!
Hi Vrecc--good to see your latest--have been wondering how your fast was going and will be checking your daily updates. I like and agree with your quote for today. Look forward to tomorrow:-)
We just visited the Baha'i Temple here in Sydney this morning, the place is so peaceful.
Hi Vreccc,
Thank you for your Baha'i teachings...unity in our diversity is wonderful! is it not?
My usual Easter time "meditation" is taking an additional different "position" this year. Focusing on writing spiritual material with my hubs. Hopefully bringing me up higher into greater unity within my mental body level of consciousness :)
I have noticed for years how my musings were "more enlightened" than my writing. Soul is maturing, I guess :)
MM and Sparkling,
Thanks for the comments. I really dropped the ball on this hub. I haven't been hubbing for a few weeks now. I have to start visiting you all more often.
Jonathan
