Do you have a rebel in the house? A few helpful ways to identify and prevention methods.
Does your child seem impossible to control at times? Do you notice your child consistently disobeying , resisting or defying higher authority.? It may be difficult to understand why some children rebel. When you think that you have done everything you can as a parent to prevent this type of behavior from your child. There are many and different causes for rebellion and several ways to prevent rebellion in your child. Although one prevention method does not work, do not despair not each method works for every child. Here is a list of a few causes of rebellious behavior.
Causes Of Rebellious Behavior:
Ø It’s not that your teen is being rebellious for no apparent reason. There are thoughts and feelings your child is coping with that we may not understand. During adolescence they may not even understand. It’s best to leave the communication door open at all times.
Ø Your child is wanting someone to talk to them as opposed to talking to them. Instead of being dominating and being one-sided, allow your child to express their feelings about the situation.
Ø A child may feel as though their parents have no interest in them, if they don’t take time out to communicate with their child.
Ø Everyone wants to feel important sometime or another. Allow your child to be part of certain decisions to be made around the house is a big step. This will allow you to see how they think about certain things. It also teaches the child what it means to be responsible and make important decisions.
If your child has not shown you any signs of rebellious behavior ,you may want to begin certain prevention methods so you don’t have to experience this behavior from your child in the future. By filling basic needs of your child is a sure fire way of prevention.
Ways to Help Prevent Rebellious Behavior
Ø Don’t fall into the habit of responding negatively to your child when they have brought things to your attention.
Ø When your child defies you and makes a bad decision allow him to experience the consequences of his decision
Ø When you make a decision and say no to your child do not change you no to a yes. Explain your reasoning sternly and in a mild manner.
Ø Do not frequently change the rules and restrictions you have for them. It can be frustrating when rules constantly change.
Ø Teenagers appreciate it when they receive trust after they have worked so hard to earn it.
Ø Provide your child with a secure home so that they can feel safe.
These are just a few prevention methods you can use in hopes to stop your child from picking up rebellious habits. There is something we all know as parents already. This is to be there for your child, love them unconditionally and communicate,communicate,communicate.
