Morality

So someone tests me on morality and says that my morality is obsolete since morality can be explained through evolution and other natural occurrences. I like to put things in easy terms so that statement in an easier to understand form word says that my views of morality have no effect since morality occurs by worldly ideas. Morality just means right and wrong. So if right and wrong are based upon what the world believes, does that really make them right or wrong? What about in the creator's eyes? Like I said above, morality is basically determining right from wrong. If someone goes out, steals a gun and shoots 50 people, that is beyond a doubt the wrong thing to do. If you go and help an old lady across the street and then walk her to her car, that is the right thing to do. So the social atmosphere has a somewhat designed way of the idea of what is right and what is wrong. So is their point valid? Well who is to judge? If everyone, 100% of the world's population agrees that shooting 50 people is wrong, then is it really wrong? It obviously is of earthly terms, but what about God's terms? How does God view morality? In the Bible, there are many different instances where God has breathed his opinion. For example, in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “The Scriptures instruct us in righteousness, providing us to every good work.” And also in Hebrew 5:14, “We must learn to discern good from evil.” God has given us many sins, immoral or wrongful acts, to which we are to abstain from. A good example is found in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 which basically tells us that thieves, prostitutes, homosexuals, the greedy, drunkards, or any other wrongful people will not inherit the kingdom of God. On the contrary, the Bible has also told us how to live, or the good thing to do. In John 14:21, God tells us that “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” In this verse, it is clear that God is telling us the correct way to live as a human being and that is to love the Lord, obey his commands, and then the Lord will love him too. But what does all this have to do with the question of what is right and wrong? Well, if the moral of immoral act you are contemplating fits inside the description of right, then it should be believed to be right; if it fits into the wrong category, it shall be known to be wrong.

Thanks Dame! Great comment and thanks
I think that if you believe in a God that is the creator of all, then he would be the one to determine what is right or wrong. Obviously God doesn't dictate every thing that we should or should not do at any given moment, but he does send us prophets that will receive revelation and then act as his mouth piece.
This is clear from the example of Moses. God says to Moses in Exodus 4: 12 that He will be his mouth and teach him what he should say. Moses then received the 10 commandments which are a pretty good start to understanding what is right or wrong.
You are right. He is the creator. The point of this article was that America and society around us have made their own 'laws' about what is right and wrong.
In Ireland, I heard a story about a myth concerning Swans, and how they mate for life. People seem to deify swans there, because of the perceived acceptable "morality" in how they stay together. Morality can be found in numerous places in nature. This is a good Hub!

I have sons that are very tall and clean cut that willingly run over to help a elder, even if that elder seems momentarily terrorized. The smile of amazement and friendly acquaintance they make is worth it, so my sons tell me. Great article! :)
