"A sound mind in a sound body" is the saying that drives home a pertinent point. Keeping fit is very important not only for athelete-students but also for other students who do not harbor major sporting ambitions. It has been scientifically proved that keeping fit greatly helps and enhances academic performances.

The main benefit derived out of keeping fit is that the immunity level of students improves a lot. This improvement in immunity level is good in combating any infection that may affect the students. Another major advantage is students will start having a self-confidence that may usually be not available with inactive and not-so-fit students. This results in the fit students facing boldly tough challenges that may arise during the course of their studies.

There is a widely prevalent myth that exercise that helps the students to keep fit will cause fatigue. But it is not true because such physical exercises have inherent benefits such as these students will be able to sleep well and hence they can start their days with fresh and rejuvenated enthusiasm.

Educational institutions around the world are encouraging students to keep fit by indulging in fitness exercises and fitness sports so that they can perform well academically also. Such fitness exercises are not time-consuming like team sports which consume more time. Fit students in many Universities around the world have shown more energy level and their excitement in learning academically is too visible to miss the eyes. Fitness exercises also create a healthy competition among students and this friendly rivalry helps them in developing their competitive nature also.

Physical well-being of the students will impart in the students a strong will and determination and they will keep themselves away from social taboos that may lure and trap them during their adolescent years.
