Call of Duty is arguably one of the most popular and successful First Person Shooter game franchises going today. I've had the chance to play on the latest one titled "World At War." This game shines in many ways but there are other areas where improvement can be made. Allow me to clarify any confusion that might be out there also. I had a lot of trouble, before purchasing the game, determining if this game allowed for Cooperative mode. (See Below)

Cooperative Play: Technically this game has Local Co-Op but it's a terrible half baked version reminiscent of arcade games. Basically, while player one navigates through the map and shoots people player two has the ability to move a set of their own crosshairs around and shoot. Player two does not have the ability to move around. There is no split screen co-op mode locally.

I did that for anyone in the position that I was in when trying to find a fun FPS (first person shooter) for my wife and I to play together. This feature is available in XBox and PS3 versions. I've heard the reasons for not including it for the Wii, like having to degrade image quality, etc, etc, but excuses are just that. Degrade the quality for all I care!

Co-op Score: 3/10

Single Player: This game has a fantastic single player experience. Images are crisp for a Wii and the game moves well. Very few laggy areas in my opinion. The story is great, but be warned, there are some very graphic scenes in the game. I love the weapons selection and it is all in all a very fun game to get immersed in. If you turn off the lights and all the noise around you, I can almost guarantee you'll find yourself getting tense like you're actually in the situation!

Single Player Score: 9/10

Online Multiplayer: One thing that is great about the Wii is that you can engage online for Free! That is a nice feature, and that adds to the enjoyment of playing online. I like that they have an area for new players to learn how to play without having to worry about being killed by monstrous level veterans.

As long as you have a good internet connection you shouldn't run into any lag issues while playing which I liked. I thought this would be a big issue on the Wii but it holds its own well. I think the game's brightest spot is the online multiplayer but it does lose points for not being capable of online split-screen co-op. I know a lot of Wii games don't offer this feature which is a slight downer but I feel that this could've been pulled off (again by sacrificing graphics.).

Online Multiplayer Score: 8/10

Call of Duty World At War has a lot to offer someone looking for a great FPS but it does lack what many people are looking for which is a nice cooperative mode that helps to enhance the local gameplay. With that setback aside, if you're looking for a great single player FPS this game has your name written all over it.

The Wii is notorious for its selection of children's games so it's nice for Adults to have a bone tossed to them on this one. Great game, great gameplay, great storyline, great graphics, fantastic single player experience, and I look forward to when they implement my minor gripes.

Overall Score: 7/10

Yeah, I prefer it much more on the 360 to be honest. Good review!
