Debt Free for Life
65
Do you know that it is possible to live debt free with one income? I really mean debt free, no credit cards payment, no car payment, and no mortgage payment at all. Wouldn't life be wonderful without any debts?
I know that debt free living is possible because Steve and Annette Economides, the authors of "American's Cheapest Family" did it, and they also wrote a book to show us step by step how to accomplish this ultimate goal.
I have read quite many frugal books but this one is by far the best because it doesn't require readers to apply any extreme measures in order to save some money, you know like vacuuming cars' air filters, washing Ziploc bags, and baking homemade breads. It is definitely a lot friendlier and more practical for a two-income family.
I also enjoyed reading the contributions from the rest of their family members; I often wonder what other family members think about their frugal life style. I personally love the money saving tips in each section like the grocery, purchase a car, vacation, and kids' allowance sections. I found those money saving tips very useful and easily implemented in real life situations.
Besides all the great money saving tips, this book also offers hope to people with low income that they don't need to make a six-figure salaries to get out of debt, and have a paid off house. What the authors had accomplished is truly amazing, they live on one income, their average household salary is less than 35K a year, they have five kids, have no car payments, and paid off their mortgage in 9 years.
In this materialistic world, we really need a book like this to remind us that there is a better way to life than debt. This book helps me recognize that it is not how much you make matters; it is how well you manage your finance.
This book serves as a motivation tool for me to start trimming down our household expenses. I have already started implementing a few things that the book has suggested and am thrilled about the savings I am seeing. I still have a long way to go but I am hopeful. In my opinion, I think they should rename the book as "America's Smartest Family".

My wife and I just bought our first house 3 weeks ago, we can't wait to get the book and see how the Economides pay off all of their debts.
