The most popular and established way is to use vinyl sheets. It will work just fine and will make the deck impervious to water. It will make the wooden deck loose a bit of the woods character. Still it is cheaper and very effective way. It seals the deck and makes sure water does not touch the wood.

Then there is the aluminum decking. This is length of special interlocking aluminum decking system are set over the top of the deck. They are specially joined with the deck to drain the water. In this case aluminum will replace the original wooden plunks. This is another very effective way of waterproofing the deck but it is a bit expensive.

Then you can set a special interlocking system. You can set a ceiling underneath the deck that will drain the water away. It does not retain the wooden decks profile and works fine. It is set by special contractors as it requires special engineering.

Many interlocking tiles manufacturing companies provides tiles of special color, some tiles given special wooden texture. They are expensive but easier to handle. They are more durable than wood but if you have enough money and do not use any fake then use wood and waterproof it.

Once you are finished, you will surely feel the urge to use it but do not be impatient. Give the deck some time to dry and used to the accessories. It won’t take that much of your time but will give you better service.
