Being a parent brings in a plethora of responsibilities on your shoulders, in the process of growing up the kids room where they spend most of their time becomes a very integral part of their life. For me if any one were to ask the parenting job seems the most difficult job of all times. But times have changed and as parents are becoming more aware of the options available and are taking an extra effort in making the room extra special. The various design issues are very kid centric and the furniture and décor used has to match the taste as per your kid and it should be safe to be around. Involve your kid in the design process and you will make a love nest for him which he will love to be in and grow.

A dilemma faced by one and all

Many parents always find it difficult to balance between the two siblings or more who share a room. A common example is an elementary aged child and a teenager, having to decorate their room can be an intimidating task. Still with some forethought and right approach it can be done. When choosing furniture think about the various multitasking features it can offer you.

A possible solution: For example, a twin over twin bunk bed for the younger child and a futon bed for the older can solve all your problems. It is very critical that you make the most of the available space, this bed when compared to a regular bed can act as a room within itself with the child's desk and a reading area and dresser under the bed.

Another probability is to give the other kid a futon bunk bed that can be folded into a sofa or a bed according to the child's personal needs.

Other design issues to bear in mind:

  • Use furniture wisely: Do not go over board and remember too much of anything makes the design a disaster. Have a dressing table, a study table, a personal computer seems to be a norm for any home nowadays.
  • Choosing the twin bunk bed: This system will not only allow you to make more space for your third child, but it will also make the already crowded room feel less crowded during the day, allowing more room for play.
  • Add color: Use color sparingly, remember the use of proper colors can bring in a mundane room to life. The colors blue and gray seem to go well down with all walls. However feel free to explore and talk about it to the kid.
  • Choose a theme: Themes are supposed to be the next in thing, the Barbie doll theme, and the football theme seems to go well with the girls and boys respectively.
  • Accessorize the rooms: Use posters, pillows and stuff they really like to be around with.
