-The Story of Ron Madison's Legend-

The story of Ron Madison’s 192 6/8 Gross Non-Typical Buck starts in the year of 2005.  Ron had seen the buck once during the ’05 Archery Season and Brian was also able to get a look at the huge buck that was spread well past his ears and mass unlike any other bucks they had seen.  The following year the Father and Son team were left to wonder if the monster buck had been hit by a car or died over the hard winter.  They were pretty sure it hadn’t been shot, because the news of this would have spread like wildfire.  After finding a number of huge rubs during the 2006 and 2007 archery season, they believed “The Legend” was still alive.  The nick name was given to this King of Bucks when Ron and Brian would talk about the buck’s “Two Foot” spread and “6 inch” mass at the dinner table.  Ron’s wife and daughter joked and told the two they were making things up.  A big this big hadn’t been taken in Chautauqua County, New York in any of their life times.

Mid-way through the 2007 Archery Season after Brian had tagged out on a great 125 class ten point, Ron seen the monster buck walk by at about 60 yards.  The buck would disappear into the heavy bush not be seen again until the fourth day of the 2008 Shotgun Season.  The ’08 Gun Season started out great as Brian took a very nice 8pt on the second day.  Two days later, Ron would step up to the plate and hit a homerun!  The Legend would find himself exposed in the middle of chopped corn field chasing a doe as Ron placed his cross-hairs behind the Bruits Shoulder.  He fired a round from his Mossberg 695 Bolt Action Shotgun and the sabot raced 145yds right into the buck.  Ron would get Brian and the two spread out to search for blood in the muddy field.  The buck would be found about 100yds in the woods from the field edge and the celebration would begin.
