Define spammer, hubber and a great hubber.

A spammer is someone who goes around sh**ting in other peoples' gardens and runs away. A hubber is someone who sh**s in his own toilet, pulls the flush and closes the lid. A great hubber is someone who sh**s in other peoples' gardens, mixes the sh** with the soil to use as manure, ends up with a blooming garden and finally gets paid for his sh**.

Funnies aside, there is a point to this blather. The same link, peddled by different people, in different places, can be called as spam or helpful information. It's all a question of doing what's morally and ethically correct, and being in the right place at the right time.

The above cartoon was found here. The cartoon has a point. Some of the spam, specially from the Nigerian guys, is really hilarious. But we're going off-topic, so let me get back to your question. A great hub is an answer to a question which is precise and informative, tells you something which you didn't know ( fact and figures, methods, how to, etc. ) and it's apparent the the hubber is an expert in the subject, or at least has first hand knowledge.

A run-of-the-mill hub would be just repeating talking points, like saying link exchanges are great for traffic, or do a google search to find out more about something. Heck, telling someone to go do a google search is really an insult to either his intelligence or yours. Whichever.

Now, please read the above two sentences again. I did post a link to a website which really has nothing to do with hubs or hubpages. I also asked you to go visit the website. Let's just assume, for a minute, that it is my site ( its not - Just assume ). Wouldn't that be promoting my own site here? Of course. That cartoon gave you more than enough value for money, and most likely you won't hold it against me that I'm plugging my own site.

So is it spam, just a hub or a great hub? You tell me.
