Definitive Guide to Adwords

I've learned a ton of stuff from the Definitive Guide to Adwords, so I decided that I would go ahead and throw a quick review page up on this site to share what I know about the book to the world. There's a free google adwords cheat sheet available from the author here, but I'd highly suggest reading through this book so that you can see if the full guide is worth it for you.

After all, shelling out nearly $75 for an electronic book can seem like quite a bit of money to throw around...especially in today's economy.

How can you be so sure that the Definitive Guide to Adwords is really worth each of your hard earned dollars?

That's why I created this quick webpage that outlines what's really covered in the book, my thoughts on the effectiveness of his strategies, and finally my recommendation as to whether or not I think you should make the investment to buy the Definitive Guide to Adwords.

What is in the Definitive Guide to Adwords?

The basic table of contents of the book is as follows, although I've done quite a summary...there are tons and tons of sections of information covered in the book.

  1. Quick Start Guide Section: this section outlines the basics of google adwords (how to create ads, keyword analysis, etc.) so that you can get started right away. The step by step example is really straight to the point and will help you quickly learn how to put an effective campaign together.
  2. Finding Your Customer: this section helps you learn how to attract the person that is looking for exactly what you have on your website. In addition to describing exactly how keyword match types work (broad, phrase, and exact match), this section tells you how to know how big your market is (i.e. how many people are searching for various keywords). This helps you know which keywords are worth your time to go after.
  3. How to Write an Adwords Ad: this section helps you to make your ad talk to your customer in a way that matches exactly with what that customer is thinking...the definitive guide to adwords calls this "finding the inner conversation" of your customer. This section helps you catch the reader's attention so they click on your ad and not a competitor's ad, how to get the highest click thru rate, and helps you understand why google cares about how many people click on the ad (the more people that click, the less money each click will cost and the higher up in the list you'll be). Yes, that's true.
  4. How To Have Your Ads Show on Websites All Around the Internet: in addition to showing you exactly how to have a great campaign that shows on google.com when people search for keywords, the definitive guide to adwords helps you learn how to get your ads placed on websites that are relevant to your products. Let's say your website sells computer speakers...the definitive guide to adwords shows you how to get your ad shown on webpages/articles/blogs that are related to computer audio. More importantly, the guide tells you how to strategically write your ad to ensure that it's clicked on when someone is reading the other webpage/article/blog.

The Definitive Guide to Adwords Has Much More

Although the definitive guide to adwords has a ton more information than what I've listed above, I thought it was also important to tell you about my personal experiences with the this guide to adwords.

Every other review site is going to tell you about what's in the book...I want to tell you if what's in the book is worth it!

My Personal Experience with the Guide to Adwords

I bought the adwords guide while I was still in school and was pretty low on funds. I had just bought all my textbooks for the semester, and was feeling a bit ummm....poor (to say the least). I stumbled across the definitive guide to adwords while searching around for blogs and articles to learn about google adwords.

A Friend of Mine Made Money with Adwords

A student friend of mine was making money advertising his local car detailing business on google adwords, and he seemed to be pretty well off. Between always buying everyone rounds of drinks when we we went out, wearing the nicest clothes around, and putting himself through school all on his own, I deducted that he was doing pretty well financially.

I stumbled across the definitive guide to adwords...more specifically, I stumbled across the author's FREE Google Adwords Cheat Sheet (seen here). I got this adwords cheat sheet with absolutely no intention of buying the $70+ definitive guide to adwords...after all, i needed to figure out how to make a few hundred dollars in my checking account stretch across an entire semester!

I Bought the Definitive Guide and Have Never Looked Back

Long story short...I ended up buying the guide to adwords after receiving a few helpful emails from the author. Perry (the author) sent me a few emails (I didn't even have to ask him to email me) helping me with a bit more information that wasn't included in the adwords cheat sheet mentioned above. Between his cheat sheet and his helpful emails (which you will receive also), I was able to make about $100 in the next 2 weeks with google adwords.

I figured, I might as well check out the definitive guide to google adwords since the free information had already made me more then enough to buy the book.

i Learned Millions of Dollars Worth of Info From the Definitive Guide to Adwords

I'm happy that I bought the book, as it's taught me a ton about google adwords. Between promoting my own businesses and also providing internet marketing google consulting to local businesses, I've been able to make a ton of money from what I've learned in the book.

I'd recommend it to anyone, but if you can't afford the book right now, then at least try the free checklist at the link I provided above. I'm sure you'll start to see the value of buying the book and will be able to learn a few money making techniques even from the free information he provides.

Best of luck with the Definitive Guide to Adwords!
