Delicious Breakfast Shakes
67For those of you who always seem to be on the run first thing in the morning, often consuming a healthy, nutritious breakfast is something that gets pushed by the wayside. This is not an effective way to prepare yourself for the day and you are likely to turn to cups of coffee and vending machine fare a few hours later to power you through until lunch.
Rather than skipping this morning meal, why not put some ingredients aside the night before so you can throw them into the blender in the morning for a quick breakfast shake that you can take with you on the drive to work? This is a perfect solution for those in a time crunch or who simply can't stomach solid food first thing in the day.
The following recipes all contain both protein and carbohydrates, two macronutrients that are important to include in this meal, and most of them have a small amount of additional fat to help keep you feeling fuller as your morning progresses.
Choco-Banana Shake
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 frozen banana
1 cup skim milk
1 tbsp peanut butter
5-10 ice cubes (depending on desired thickness)
Blend together protein powder, banana, milk and peanut butter. Once mixed at ice and crush until shake texture develops.
