Dell Inspiron 530 Review

If you are looking for a new computer for home or small business, the Dell Inspiron 530 home computer might be for you. I recently purchased one myself at the beginning of 2009 and have been thoroughly happy with it thus far. I purchased a bundle unit from Wal-Mart that included a Dell E228WFP 22" widescreen LCD monitor. This computer bundle is designed for a very wide range of personal computer users, from mainstream consumers to power users. The bundle included a DVD burner, optical mouse, keyboard, Microsoft Vista Home Premium operating system, Microsoft Works, and Dell AX210 speakers.

The processor in the Dell Inspiron 530 I purchased was a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E7200. It has a 2.53 GHz CPU speed with a bus speed of 1066 MHz. The L2 cache size is 3 MB with a cache speed of 2.53 GHz. The memory included is 3 GB of DDR2 system memory. This can be added to, but as it stands right now, it is enough memory to multi task with several programs at once. The hard drive included in the 530 is a 640 GB hard drive spinning at 7200 rpm. This size is more than enough for your average PC'er to store a tremendous amount of documents, games, music, photos and videos. There is also an extra space should you choose to add another hard drive down the line should you need more space.

The 16x DVD drive is pretty standard and is a rewritable drive, meaning you can burn and play both DVD and standard CDs in it. Also included is 19-in-1 digital media card reader that reads all of the most popular memory card formats so you can easily transfer photos, music or documents very quickly. Also included in the front are 4 USB ports and a headphone and microphone jack for easy access.

The Dell Inspiron 530 is a very compact unit that stands only 14.2 inches high, 6.7 inches wide and 17.1 inches deep. This makes it almost a great fit any where you put it. There is 10/100 Base-T network interface and 56K modem built into the back, so it is ready for either DSL, cable or dial-up service. It uses a 300 Watt DC power supply and a 3-V CR2032 lithium coin cell backup battery, which are both pretty standard and reliable. As with most Inspiron units, you've got room to grow.

The video and audio or both superb as an integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 video card and a integrated 7.1 channel audio card are already built in. This is more than enough to watch your favorite videos or listen to all of your digital music with. If you are a serious gamer though, you might want to look elsewhere, but if you are a novice to casual gamer this will handle your needs with ease. The computer is quite quit and has an excellent sleep and power down function. Sometimes you can not even tell if it is running or not because it is that quit.

The monitor included with the bundle is Dell E228WFP 22" widescreen LCD monitor as mentioned above. It offers up a 1680 x 1050 resolution, 800:1 contrast and 5-ms. typical response rate. The widescreen view takes surfing the internet and watching movies to a whole new enjoyment level.

I have owned many PC computers over the years and this one pleases me in every factor. I am a web designer by trade and it handles all of my multi tasking with ease. It will make a great family computer and a fantastic small business computer as well. If you are thinking of purchasing the 530 series, I do not think you will be disappointed.
