The Denver metro area consists of not only the city of Denver, but many surrounding cities/suburban centers as well. Some will include Aurora as part of the Denver metro area as well. The surrounding cities/suburban centers that are included in the Denver metro area include:

Naturally, because of the diversity and size of the metro area, the list of local movie theaters is quite large. The theaters range from dollar/discount theaters that play movies that have been playing for a while, to the newer theaters with stadium seating. Some theaters that are nastalgic and have a history, such as the Mayan theater in Denver, play independent movies that you won't find at the main Denver movie theaters.

Most of the major movie distribution players can be found at the different outlets, such as AMC, and Century. Some of the other smaller distribution channels such as Landmark and several independent film festival based lines can also be found in Denver as well.

One of the most unique movie theater experience I have found is a new independent movie house on Colfax in the Tattered Cover building. This unique atmosphere has unique seating as well as eating arrangements. There is a cafe inside of the building that serves bistro-style food and you can bring the food into the theatre with you! No more paying $5 just for a box of whoppers! You can pay $10 and get a whole tasty meal! Drinks included!
