Depression Go Away!
Depression go away. Is that possible?
What is depression anyway? Does it last and can it be cured?
A sick feeling in your stomach, tension headaches lingering on for days, weeks even longer? Tension neckaches, backaches? A Cloud hanging over your head, over your life? Feeling lethargic, with precious little energy to fight back? Or just plain, feeling down. Blue they call it.
You may feel that life is too tough. Too hard. Come back another day.
More and more people are feeling depressed. In fact, it is quite common now. Even successful people get depressed at various times of their life, even at the peak. They may feel fear, "My God! This can't last forever... It's too good to be true..." and so on. They say, surely depression can go away. It can't stay.
Fear is the main underlying cause.
- Fear of being rejected
- Fear of not being good enough
- Fear of being unloved
- Fear of being alone/lonely
- Fear of not having enough money
- Fear of being unaccepted
- Fear of failure
- Fear of success (yes!)
- Fear of talking/relating to people

Depression go away,
Don't come back for another day!
What's depression anyway?
Something hiding in a bottle?
Something blue? Something heavy?
Depressed means something is down.
Yeah! Shares go down
People's hearts and banks go down...
We try to kill the pain
Depression with pills,
lying on a couch talking to someone.
Or we watch TV, drink, do drugs...
party, sex, binge on food...
to ease the pain of depression.
What kind of friend is it?
Who calls depression a good friend?
Hangs around, takes everything we value,
That's not a good friend.
Best to get something better.
So tell depression go away soon!

Depression go away and bring back my hair!
Depression and the fear of being rejected
Making depression go away means looking at what makes us feel depressed in the first place. One common fear or trigger is the fear of being rejected.
We can feel depressed when we feel that someone does not accept us, love us, validate or acknowledge our existence!
However, there are at least two (2) sides to each story or experience...
- The real experience of what happened
- Our skewed perception of what happened
For example, we are walking down the street and we see someone that we know. For some reason they do not stop and acknowledge us. They just seemed to walk right past us, as if we were not there! Depression hits us like a sledgehammer... For some, depression stays and depression going away is not happening.
You see, your friend may have been worried about his son having been admitted to hospital after an accident. He may have problems at home, he may be depressed that he may be losing his mojo! Ouch!
He may have been so focused on his situation or his problem that you were not even in his radar. If you had stopped him and asked, "How are you? What's wrong? You seemed worried..." he may then have shared his problem with you. It wasn't even about you!
We think that we are special, and we are. But right or wrong, we believe that we are the centre of the universe and everything revolves around us. When we see a group picture taken, we look for ourselves in the picture first before we look for other people in it. We check that we didn't look too horrible or weird! If we look OK, we're pleased.
We can be self-absorbed creatures. Sometimes self-centered, sometimes selfish. Yeah, true. Guilty. But other times, we can be genuinely caring and concerned about our loved ones, our family and even fellow colleagues at work.
So, please don't let depression ruin your day, it's not about you! Shake it off!
Even if your friend deliberately ignored you, he may have his reasons. Another time, he may say, "Sorry, I didn't say anything when I saw you that day, I was on the way to the hospital....my son..."
It is unrealistic to expect EVERYONE to like us. I know that some people can rub me the wrong way and try as hard as I can, I cannot like them much, let alone love them. OK, I can be polite and so on, but there are other people that I click with, I would rather spend my time with. They click with me and so on and life's great.
Let's not worry about the things we cannot change, change what we can and get on with our lives. Maybe then, it is more likely to make depression go away!
