Desperate for Love.Women taking off their clothes for some attention
68"Bare it all for the boys", "No bush". 'Mistress of Undressing'. These were some of the words written on the backs of a group of women who had banded together to bare their all to the public. 30 American women amid steady snowfall lay down on the cold snow to spell out the word No Bush". Thousand of miles away 750 women in Australia got on their backs lying naked end to end on a grassy knoll on a private property to form a heart shape around the words "No War"
Â
As you by now should have guessed these women got naked to protest against the war that was going around the world. Really brave of them to do it considering the freezing snow and possible tiny ants and bugs crawling in the grass. But i have always wondered why naked? How in the world are you going to convince someone to stop fighting by showing your breast and curves? Maybe between 2 men yes. but an entire nation!!! Doesn't make sense right. I mean if you have already decided to sacrifce your time, money career and a clean police record to fight for this cause why not do something that is more effective?Instead of lying down naked end to end on a remote countryside, why not the 750 women lie down on a road stretch which will be used to transports soldiers weapons and tanks and block ther route. That way at least they will be assured of some damages being done. like delays and wastage of manpower to clear the obstruction. 'NO WAR' across a hill? 30 naked women in Central park forming the work No 'Bush' No disrespect but i don't see how effective this action is going to be other than causing the police some mild disturbance
But an activist who regularly takes part in nude protests beg to differ. She said," Nudity attracts attention. Our target is the male-dominated political parties. We need them to hear us. They are unlikely to listen unless we get their attention. Nudity symbolise power. Stripping off the clothing that label and separate us, we then become united as a single body and this female BODY made up of thousands of simple female human beings want one thing now. and that is PEACE. We know its difficult but it makes a powerful statement. We are not women who strips off our cloths everyday for the camera like models or actresses. We are decent women self respecting women and the idea of showing our body to the world is an uncomfortable idea and at worst, absolutely excruciating. We can sign thousands of petitions but how useful does that make us feel after inking our signature? Is this the best we can do? i DON'T THINK SO!!!
Getting naked and showing our body to the public is of course uncomfortable and embarrassing to us. We are not playboy models and some of us have figures which had seen better days, but if this is uncomfortable, think how uncomfortable and embarrassing the pictures of our men blown to pieces will be. So by displaying our nakedness, we show the politicians we are willing to go to any lengths to have our feelings respected.
So what do you think? Pointless spectacle used by the hyper-sexualized media?Self-indulgent and exhibitionist? Or does the explanation given by the activist have some logic in it? I know many protest groups like PETA pay ridiculous amount of cash to beautiful supermodels to strip and mainly that is for publicity because the same models who said "NO FUR" would then go on to sign multi million dollar deals with fashion labels to promote their new line of winter clothings.and incidentally many of the clothings they sell would be made of fur but this is different. They even have an 80 year old woman stripping naked for their cause. These women are very sincere. They genuinely want to change the world. The question is are they going about it correctly. Will thousand of naked women spelling out anti-war slogans with their bodies reach to the hard-headed pro war politicians? I wish for these womens' sake it will

NEW DELHI -- In a new book, the award-winning Indian novelist Arundhati Roy takes aim at India's self-image -- and reputation -- as the world's largest and most vibrant democracy. Indian democracy, she asserts, is not only not working, it is "used up" and "hollowed out and emptied of meaning."

Its an honor to see you take your time to read my article my friend and i thank you for that. Guess this displaying of female nudity is a matter of opinion. Tough to argue its effective or not since PETA was a big hit but of course PETA fights for a different cause altogether. sigh... so its back on the drawing board this one.:=)
Well sweetie I both can agree and disagree...seems silly.... but when one is here and not where they can lay across the road and cause delays... maybe is true men will always take a look see at a naked woman's body...for what ever reason...but it does bother me that women will use their bodies in such a manner...I think a womans body is nice as well as a man's...but whether it gets the "Point" across is questionable...We all want NO WAR...or I would hope so...so I guess whatever it takes to get that across to whom ever is in charge...we do what we must to get the attention where we want it...
Nice hub My dear and hope all is well for you and you have a HAPPY NEW YEAR...Love you G-Ma :o) Hugs
Sweet Nana i really hope for all those women sake their point would get across. Why i kind of having doubts about it is because this is war we are talking about. If you get naked in public you are going to be arrested and since these women have already decided to "Go all the way" so to speak why not do something which will make politicians sit up and listen to them without having to bomb or kill anyone to grab their attention.?
When a leader plans on going to war, he, at that deciding moment is not going to think of some naked women who formed the words "NO WAR' in a remote countryside. But he will surely remember the last time a large group of women laid down on a long stretch of a heavily used road in protest causing his army to be held up on public roads, and the major traffic jam that piled up resulting in widespread disgruntlement among the general public and a major dip in the popularity chart for the leader and the amount of time and manpower that was wasted to clear the roads again among loads of other problems. These are really major headaches which any leader of a country will never want it to happen to them. So if that leader were to even have the thoughts of going to war appear remotely in his head the thought about these women protesters and the trouble they caused will be up there with his war thoughts and that itself is a major victory for this group of woman. Hope i made sense of what i just said :=)
This is of course my personal opinion about Naked protesters. Thank you Nana for dropping by, Happy New Year. Love you so much Grandma Nana. :=)
When I was in High School I used to protest against the Vietnam War and would march for miles in a group, (no offense to the Vietnam war veterans) with clothes on of course. hehe. I personally don't agree with taking clothes off to make a point, I doubt if it will; I think it actually puts women in role of using their bodies to make a point instead of their brains. Just my thoughts, but to each their own of course.
BDW, I listened to the song you dedicated to me, "Never the Same Again, and it was lovely, had not listened to it. Thanks for the charming gesture. :)  Â
Good hub!

Miss Violet looking at you i could never guess you were a protester once. You are too beautiful to be holding picket signs :=P. But seriously yes its a matter of how people see this nude protest. Some say nudity is powerful so by displaying their body they are sending a powerful message. But personally they are only sending one message to me and i rather keep that message to myself. I feel the same way too. There are plenty of other ways for a woman to voice out their views. but i don't think anyone would care to listen to what i say. The song just fits you perfectly. Its a beautiful friendship song and i felt you it should be dedicated to you. Glad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by Miss Violet. Happy New Year.
Lgali. look hard enough you might find it. Happy New Year

I did quite a few marchs and sit ins, and was kinda like a flower child in my younger years. hehe.
Happy New Year, Ashwin! May 2009 be blessed.
I'm glad I came across this one. I swear I paid attention to what you wrote. Naked women protesting works everytime.
REALLY? it works? You mean to say they get their message across to their intended target all the time or its works for those who are looking for some sexy visual delights? Like the bandanna-head moustached man in picture 3!!! Thanks for stopping by buddy. Glad you found the hub interesting. A very Happy New Year to you
The whole idea of celebrities doing it for PETA merely proves they have 1) too much time and 2) too much money and 3) no dignity. I like a woman's body as much as anyone, but I think the whole PETA thing is a waste of time. Great hub, brother, keep em comin'!
Well said my friend. You echoed my thoughts exactly, its time people should stop donating all those cash to this group who pay millions to supermodels who don't give a damn whether animals are killed or not. When the supply is cut off then the ones standing last will be genuine fighters for the cause. Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy New Year to you
They are looking for a reason to undress...if there is no war, they will undress for someother reason; it is exhibitionism...they need treatment.
Well Psypo, I really don't know what to say... but you got me crackng up my friend... Thanks for stopping by.
