Destiny J. Moore
Destiny J. Moore was born May 14, 2001 and died November 20, 2007. She was six years of age when she passed away and I dedicate this to her. Time and time again I have spoke with Destiny's mother Charity and for her it is very hard some days. Having three children of my own I do not know what it is like to have the lose of a child but I am sure it is devastating. I am not sure how I would even handle it. Day by day we as a family deal with Destiny's death the best we can, some better than others (of course). Charity has such a hard time especially when she comes across something that destiny use to wear, have, or even play with.
Destiny was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She spent a lot of time in and out of Riley Hospital (a hospital here in Indianapolis for children). There was not possible way for the doctors to do surgery on the tumor because it sat on her spinal cord in the back of her brain.

The day she got sick
The day Destiny got sick was awful. She was being like a normal little girl then all of a sudden she collapsed on the floor. Her mother did not know what was wrong, worried and in panic she calls 911. It was very scary Charity said to see her own daughter go from motivation to nothing. At the hospital the doctors told Charity that she had a tumor that was pushing on her spinal cord in the back of her brain. I wish I could remember what they called it. As soon as I find out more details I will update this hub. Doctors also said she will never walk again and the tumor would keep on growing to eventually kill Destiny (thinking about it just makes me cry).
The Doctors then told Charity that they could make the tumor shrink by putting Destiny in chemotherapy. So what is a parent to do but to do what they can to get the child the best help ever. Charity agree and went ahead with the chemotherapy. The treatment was successful in making the tumor to shrink but the tumor still was pressing on her brain that Destiny could not walk, talk, or even feed herself. As time went on the doctors finally had to put a tube down Destiny's throat that when up her nose and down to her stomach so she could be fed threw a feeding tube. The procedure when according to plan (at least they thought). After Charity got Destiny home and started to feed her for the first time. Something horrible went wrong. The tube that the doctors put down Destiny throat was in her lung and not in her stomach. Destiny was rushed to the hospital again because the fluid almost drowned her. This incident cause Destiny to get pneumonia in her lung.
The procedure that the doctors performed on Destiny did not take an x-ray to see if the tube was in place. The only thing that was done and it proper procedure is to blow and listen to it and if they hear the right sound then the tube is in the right place. Don't seem to be the cause here huh? Charity was do mad to find out that because the procedure went wrong that Destiny's life span is now shorter than before. Not to long after this the time came that no one wanted to see. Destiny pasted away while her and Charity were sleeping on November 20, 2007. At the age of 6 Destiny was gone. Yes we all still miss and think about her that is why I am creating this hub for all who has ever lost someone they love. Please do remember that if someone you know ever has to have a feeding tube done PLEASE PLEASE get an x-ray done so that nothing like this will happen to them.

Oh,Anna...I know it had to be a hard hub to write, but I'm sure it was good for you to do so...to share it. I'm assuming that Charity is your sister? So sad for you all. My sister lost her only son to suicide when he was 16 and I know, even though it's been many years, that part of her went with him. I know it must be the same for Charity. You and your family have my utmost sympathy. Love...jill
yes she is my sister. yeah it is hard most days it was her only child as well. i really feel bad for her. thx jill for you kind words.
Oh Anna, I am so sorry to hear about this, though I had heard it before. It is good for me to read it in more detail now, as I had no idea all that was entailed. I agree with you, I cannot begin to imagine the loss of a child. My sincerest and deepest condolences to your family, as well as my thoughts and love. I think it is great that you created this hub in memory of your sweet niece, Destiny. Thank you for sharing it with us all. Love, Ocean
