Money Making Opportunity with the Disciple's Cross Company
77ABOUT DISCIPLE'S CROSS
The company was started by John Raymond. He is the Pastor of New Horizon Christian Fellowship in Slidell, Louisiana. He also appeared on Survivor Thailand, the Emmy winning CBS show. While on the show he wore his cross necklace. After that he was unable to keep up with the demand. He now offers the opportunity to make these necklaces for him from your own home.
GETTING STARTED
To become a Certified Producer for the Disciple's Cross Company, you need to purchase the start up kit. It cost 69.95 plus shipping and handling. The kit consist of of the materials needed to make 25 necklaces and an instructional DVD. These will be your trial and error necklaces. Not many people can produce an approved necklace right off the bat. The DVD has a normal speed demonstration along with up close and slowed down versions.
MAKING THE NECKLACES
This does take some patience and a sense of humor. Your first necklaces may not look like his at all. Give it some time and you will improve.
All your materials must come from Disciple's Cross. You will begin by bending the nails according to the instructions. Then pair up the 2 matching nails and wrap them in the colored wire. You do this for the top section and the bottom section. Then you connect the two sections with the last piece of wire. At this point you will dip the necklaces in a clear coat to help keep the necklaces from rusting if they get wet. When they are dry, you then put on the leather cord and the tag. The last step is putting the assembled necklace in the small zip bag. Approximate time for completing a necklace will be 5 minutes after you get efficient (besides the clear coat step).
*Tip #1-Buy some practice wire from Walmart or any craft store. This will help you feel less stressed about making the necklaces in the beginning. You don't want to waste any of the materials that could be used in making money. Do remember that your approved necklaces must be made from material purchased from Disciple's Cross
*Tip #2-When cutting and bending the ends of the wire you have to be careful not to scar the color. Try using a finger pad (see photo). Double up the finger pad between the wire cutters and the wire. This creates a barrier that will prevent damaging the wire. After you start making the necklaces you will see how this will work.
MAKING MONEY
The Buy Back Program
Disciple's Cross offers a buy back program. After completing approximately 10 necklaces, you send them to the company for inspection. You will need to make sure that your nails are mirror images and bent at the 90 deg. angles. Your wrappings need to be tight on the nail and with no spaces between the wires. The leather cord needs to have the knots tied correctly so that is will be able to adjust in size. The tag has a specific way to be tied. The last step is putting the necklace correctly in bag.
Once the cross necklaces are approved you will be paid. For each approved cross necklace, you will receive $2.25. $1 is reimbursement for the material. The other $1.25 is for your labor. You will also receive a reimbursement for your shipping cost of $5.00.
Disciple's Cross will allow you to make up to 400 cross necklaces per week. With the buy back program you could make $500.00 per week profit. There is no quota to meet so you can work at your own pace.
After you make your first 400 approved necklaces you will receive a refund for your start up kit.
You can buy the materials in lots of 25 (cost $25.00). When you send them to be approved, you do need to send them in groups of 50 (except for your initial group).
MARKETING
There are several options to marketing the Disciples Cross necklaces.
- Flea Markets- if you are to sell at a flea market, you are going to find that people are looking for a bargain. Try offering your necklaces for $5.00.
- Craft Fair-You may be able to sell your necklaces at a craft fair for $5.00-$9.99.

Just a little heads up about the buy back program. I do want to let everyone know that if you plan on using the buy back program, it can be difficult. This is the biggest complaint with the company. You will have to make perfect necklaces. I have found that its easier to sell them myself.
Very interesting piece.
