Detox Cleanses - Just A Fad?

There has been a lot in the news days about body pollution and toxins and poisons that make our lives miserable.  Well, being the investigator that I am, I decided to look into this.  The following text is the results of my research.  I'm not a doctor or colon cleansing expert.  Please take everything I say with a grain of salt(or two).  If you're considering going on of the diets discussed, PLEASE do a bit of research on your own.  There are so many sites on the Internet with tons of good info.  You'll probably have to sift through a few sales letters but the information is out there.  Saying that, you'll probably want to contact your doctor as well.

The detox cleanse goes by many different names now.  It's often referred to as a colon cleansing detox or a a body cleanse detox as well.  They're all essentially the same thing.  They involve a diet of herbs and vitamins that claim to rid your body of all the horrible toxins that it takes in from the air.  If you experience constipation, diarrhea or an unexplainable tiredness, a colon cleanse may be something that you want to consider.  Regularly detoxifying your body is also supposed to give you more energy and a flatter stomach.  In some cases, a program like this can even help individuals suffering from Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).

So Why Does Our Body Need To Be Detoxed Anyway?

This is a legit question and the people who sell these programs make a pretty valid argument! Think about all the nasty stuff that your body takes in everyday. Let's start with the food. Caffeine, Alcohol and saturated fats are all horrible for us. We know this but continue to ingest these foods anyway. And what about the air? Unless you live in a small town somewhere, chances are the air you breath in and out everyday is filled with toxins that just plain aren't good for the body. Don't even get me started on the water...

It's interesting to me that we spend so much energy caring about our appearance. Everyday, we religiously brush our teeth and wash our faces. What about our insides though? I guess because people can't see it, it doesn't matter if it's polluted with all sorts of toxins.

How Can We Get Our Hands On A Detox Cleanser?

There are quite a few programs out there that help wipe away all the junk in our colon and digestive tract. One of the most popular ones is by Dr. Natura. Their Colonix and Toxinout products are famous all over the world. Reviews are mixed so I'll let you dig up your own opinion. This has really become the program for all others to copy though. Chances are that if your looking at a detox cleansing program, it's similar to the good Doctor's.

The two products mentioned above basically work together in a three step process. First of all, it cleanse your colon and digestive tract. Everything you ingest is herbal so it's not like we're burning out the toxins here. Secondly, the patient ingests a different combination of vitamins and herbs to replenish the bacteria in their digestive system. Your colon does need some good bacteria to properly digest food. We just want to get rid of all the bad ones. The last stage is about detoxing the entire body. Now that your colon is clean, it's time to for a liver cleansing detox. While we're at it, we may as well clean up the blood and the tissues as well.

Now Dr. Natura and all his competitors are very secretive about what's actually inside the Colonix and Toxinout products. Maybe you guys know?! There are some recipes online that provide a sort of home remedy detox. Leave a comment if you like. I'd love to hear from you!
