Again the Gov of MA wants to do all he can to help NH to a speedy recovery from the recession. Little did we ever think that a Chicago politician would want to do so much for our little state that he would devise a plan to go to MA and run for their governor's office as a back door approach to help NH. It opens up a whole new way to campaign for office in America, you campaign in one state to help those in the border state through legislative initiatives.
It gives a whole new meaning to the term stealth, it's pure genius I tell you. Of course I am speaking of the latest proposal of Gov. Patrick to help New Hampshire recover from the recession by installing toll booths on RT 93. What an ingenious idea, a stimulus package for our state disguised as a usury fee for MA residents. I tell you this Governor is even smarter than we could have imagined. First a stimulus bill sky rocketing taxes in MA to support our stores and restaurants in NH. Now a bill to take traffic off the interstate and divert them onto smaller state roads such as Rt. 28 and Rt.110. All this to insure that drivers will be passing Tax Free Mom and Pop owned stores on their way to the parking lots of the super stores. This is the boom they have been praying for. A recovery plan that not only extends to the giants like Wal-Mart and the other super stores, but one that recognizes the value in the small family owned businesses along secondary roads and the importance they have to our communities and way of life in NH. This generous package from MA has even spurred conversation in our State Legislature to allow independent liquor stores to open in our state. Many of these new stores would most likely be located in the downtown of the border towns, I can see the cars with MA plates jamming the parking lots now.
The good will that comes out of something like this goes beyond just helping business, look at the new found money these towns will have available to put toward education in the local schools. I never thought about it but I guess it's like a new No Children left Behind Bill funded by MA.
I do feel bad though for the people that live in MA border towns such as Methuen and Lawrence. The crush of traffic passing through those towns will not only put a stress on their municipal budgets for traffic safety, but the infrastructure costs to those towns and MA in general will be staggering. Rt. 28 and 110. in MA will probably need expanding and new traffic controls to handle the flood of cars coming into NH. But this is when the true genius of the Governor will come shining through. Because this is when he will say the answer to this problem is the 19-cent-per-gallon gas tax that he has proposed.
Way to go Governor, I knew you would eventually come up with a way to get that gas tax back on the table to help our border gas stations. With a plan like that there shouldn’t be a gas station left in MA within 20 miles of the border.
It does seem a little unfair that not only will we be gaining all of this business, but that MA residents will be incurring all of the infrastructure costs to support us. But I guess with new income redistribution philosophy we have in America I shouldn't feel bad. After all we deserve this money from MA, if we didn't Gov. Patrick and your state legislature would not be working tirelessly to send it to us. I feel like this is becoming a weekly event, but again we say thank you to Gov. Patrick, the MA legislature for their overwhelming generosity. To the MA citizens a special thank you for your sacrifices on our behalf, and a plea to keep voting the way you do, for "change" that we all can believe in.
And Gov. Patrick, I assure you that when you are ready to retire you will be welcomed with open arms to come and reside in Tax Free NH, why not Gov. Romney did. But for you we might even consider a ticket tape parade.

Thanks HW, interesting set of circumstances, the word from the Hill is they think they will lose money for about a month. Then the they are counting on the population to become lazy and go back to just paying the taxes---not this time.
The Shark---buying in NH to make a stand.
Well done Shark, I just wish some of that prosperity would find its way down here in The Peoples Republic of RI.
Hi American, well RI has similar problems as do all of the North East, and most of the East Coast. Check out my hub titled Modern Day Marshall Plan. You couldn't write this stuff. Well, it can be discouraging seeing what is happening to our country.
Last night we saw the President tell us: I wasn't there, I don't know all the facts, and the professor is a friend of mine so I might be biased, but the Cambridge Police acted stupidly.
Nothing like trashing a person and a PD's reputation without admittedly having the facts.
Nice job Mr Obama---can't wait for your health care plan, is he ever going to be able to expalin it?
