The infants will even know of the ill effects of the killer disease, diabetes.  It crawls stealthily into you as Pre diabetes, which is otherwise called as touch of diabetes or Borderline Diabetes or Chemical Diabetes.   At this stage blood sugar triggers more than the normal standard and its diagnosis it as type 2 is little bit difficult.  The Fasting Blood Glucose and Postparandial Blood Sugar Tests and Oral Glucose Tolerance Test will reveal the invasion of diabetes into you.

Though there is no preventative process to keep at bay the diabetes, you need not worry at all.  You start strictly adhering to the following tips, you will certainly be astonished that you are leading your ‘sweet’ life, (even with its existence in you) in a healthy way bidding good-bye to its adverse effects.

Always have an optimistic mind set.  Diabetes is wholly manageable and can be effectively kept under your control.

There are two major types in Diabetes, namely, (1)Diabetes Type 1 otherwise referred to as  IDDM - Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or Juvenile onset diabetes and (2) Diabetes Type 2 otherwise referred to as NIDDM (Non Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus) or Adult Onset and another minor type as Gestational Diabetes.

Understand the negative effects of diabetes. Even if its onset in you is diagnosed, you need not feel desperate.

It can be easily kept under control just by adopting the following simple ways:

(1) Correct body weight is the basic thing. You can very well maintain this with an appropriate nutritional diet plan, which your physician will devise for you, after considering a variety of factors like your height, weight, age, sex, food habits, physical activity, blood pressure, cholesterol levels.  The diet plan would, inter alia, include duration during which the diet course has to be continued, calories as well the nutritional values of the food items recommended, distribution of servings per day, etc.  The comprehensive menu would comprise least amount of fats and sweets, then milk, meat and the like, higher quantities of vegetables and fruits and larger quantities of grains, beans and starchy vegetables and diabetic nutritional supplements.  Simultaneously, drink 8-10 glasses of water per day, at regular intervals.  Also, have enough sleep.

(2) Engage in doing recommended work-outs like yoga and more physical actions like walking, fast walking.

(3) Checking of sugar levels (better than urine tests, regular blood tests are preferred) to keep within control the blood sugar levels is a must.  Different gauging apparatus like one touch glucose meter, free style glucose meter are available.  These will ensure measurement and consequent monitoring of the glucose levels in an accurate and reliable manner.

(4) Consult your physician, based on the results of the above and austerely abide by his advice whether it is insulin tablets or injections.  You may use insulin pumps or insulin pens with insulin cartridges, so that you need not go to the laboratory to get the testing done.

The medical treatment could be any or a combination of the following:

Herbal treatments:  Herbs have inherent in them the qualities to cure the dreaded disease.  Onion bulbs, garlic cloves, bitter gourds, bitter melon, blue berry leaves tea, prickly pear cactus (nopal), bilberry, mulberry or olive leaves, Fenugreek seeds, etc ., have the inherent ability to lower blood sugar to a significant extent.  It would be better if you have the juice or extracts of the above herbs. Herbs and spices like cinnamon, ginger, bay leaf, clover, nutmeg, coriander seeds, dandelion greens also have such curing effects.

Ayurvedic Treatment: Gymnema Sylvestre will keep the diabetes under control, on a permanent basis and without any side effects.

Chinese Medicine – Asian Ginseng has a similar effect.

A Doctor in North India has established a therapy called Cow Urine therapy (he prefers Indian Cows, for this) and has been successfully administering it for the reduction in blood sugar levels remarkably.

Scientists are doing researches as to the possibilities of artificial pancreas or insulin producing cells.

Once you have put into practice the above, you may stay confident that you have crossing the danger levels of the killer disease.  Now, you may, for academic interest, know the symptoms, causes etc.

Diabetes  Type 1:  It renders itself as impossible of identification at the initial levels. But, it dramatically develops say in a few days to weeks.  It sets usually in infants, when they are affected by some illness or injury or virus attack or normally due to environments.

Reasons: The pancreas discontinues production of insulin or secretes lesser quantum of insulin.  Therefore, body cells do not get the right amount of glucose.

Causes: Hereditary, irregular diet, unhygienic surroundings, irregular secretion of some undesired hormones, some virus like coxsackie. mumps, jaundice or respiratory infections, early feeding of cow’s milk are the major causes for diabetes.

Symptoms:  In the initial stages, nausea, vomiting and in the later stages abnormal weight loss and dehydration, , over thirst,  excessive hunger, increased tiredness, frequent urination, blurry vision, irritability, hair fall and in advanced stages, coma and/or death also is not uncommon.

Diabetes Type 2:

Symptoms: Increased fatigue, over thirstiness and excessive hunger, frequent urination and dehydration, normally weight loss (in some cases weight gain also), blurry vision, tiredness and uneasiness, infection like fungal, bacterial, urinary tract, yeast, wounds, not getting healed in the normal course of time, dry mouth, leg pains, itchy skins.

Causes:  Improper utilization of the sufficient quantity of insulin secreted.  It contracts in overweight or obese people, middle aged or aged persons.

Other causes are: Hereditary, Stress, Drug Induced, sex (mostly in men and less in women), Hypertension.
