Diabetes and Heart Attacks

This hub deals with diabetes heart disease. Discovery of diabetes in your life is a circumstance that requires treatment as soon as it is detected, even though, in its early stages, it doesn't seem to impair you. Everything may appear to you as ok. However, Ignoring it is a big mistake, because high blood sugars can cause very many complications, and these complications of diabetes lead to other serious health problems. One major cause for worry is its unhelpful effects on your heart. Diabetes and poor blood circulation often lead to major heart disease problems as well as a plethora of other health complications.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is an endocrine state in which the body has problem metabolizing sugar into energy for the cells. Type one diabetes is generally when the pancreas does not manufacture insulin, the hormone responsible for suitable metabolism. Type two diabetes is generally a resistance of the body to the hormone. In both cases hyperglycemia or high blood sugar levels in the blood can occur.

What is a heart attack?

A heart attack, also known as an(acute) myocardial infarction (AMI or MI), occurs when the blood supply to part of the heart is broken up. This is most commonly due to blockage of a coronary artery The resulting restriction in blood supply (and oxygen shortage), if left untreated for an ample period, can cause damage and/or death of heart muscle tissue (myocardium). Diabetes affects blood circulation and thus increases risk factors.

What are some of the risk factors in diabetes heart disease?

One of the major reasons for concern among diabetes is the effects of diabetes on the heart. Below are four major things in which to watch out:

  1. Blood fats: Cholesterol and triglycerides require to be kept lower in diabetics.
  2. High Blood Pressure: Hypertension: Diabetes often has a direct association with high blood pressure, or hypertension. In reality, most doctors want the diabetic's blood pressure to be even lower than other people.
  3. Obesity: Weight level: There is a straight link between diabetes and obesity. Weight level (high body mass index or BMI) strains the heart and often leads to disease.
  4. Sugar levels in the blood: One chief cause for concern causing adverse effects on our hearts is unstable blood sugar levels. These can cause poor circulation-a gigantic step on the road to heart problems.
