Diabetic Diet: New Research Changes Everything
60Just watch the calories
Generally uch worry is found in newly discovered diabetics. three things must be made very clear
1. So far there is no permanent cure for Diabetes
2. Diabetes can be managed and one can lead a very normal life
3. Over emphasis on diet is really misplaced.
One of the confusion about Diabetes and food intakes is that now if you just discard sugar and the carbohydrates from you meals you could be doing OK. Nothing can be far from the truth.
Recent research in USA (by Harvard University) has concluded that high/low carbohydrate diet, High/low protein diet, low fat diet etc all had same effect so far as weight reduction and cardio vascular diseases were concerned. what really counts is the over all energy or the calorie intake and the caloroes burned per day.
So far as there is balance between the two; well there is not much left to care or worry for then.
Key is to eat healthy fibrous food with an eye on the calorific value. then this needs to be balanced with your life style and specially the type of exercises you take to burn these calories.
This new research has changed so many old orthodoxies like avoiding carbohydrates, sugars, sweets or many of the fruits too.
Thus its a big boon to the diabetics as they can forget the food selection stress to large extent an eat the wider variety and keep a watch on calories, which is crucial.

Pancreas disfunction and Diabetes
The cause of Diabetes is disfunctioning pancreas that fails to produce required levels of insulin to nutralize the glucose produced by digestion of food. So far there is no cure to make the pancreas function again. this is why I said above that Diabetes must be managed. this could be done by external supply of insulin at one hand and by burning the calories with exercise or reducing the calorific intake itself.
Here again the researches are in advance stage to offer pancreas transplant as well as stem cell alternatives to make pancreas function again. these development are presently at pre-clinical levels. Similarly red wine and ingredients of grapes have possibility of helping diabetes as well as heart disease soon.

It's not only sugar or carbohydrates every thing we eat turns into Glucose. Insulin, which is produced by the pancreas, is a hormone that converts glucose into Energy ( Fuel ) & our body use that energy to function properly.
People who have diabetes their pancreas doesn't function properly, therefore it cannot make insulin or not enough to convert the glucose into energy.
Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with out medication by reducing sugar or carbohydrates, proper food intake and daily exercise.
