Value of diamond is dependent on four C's

Certification bodies usefour "c"s as parameter for grading quality of diamond. These four are also parameter in determining value of a diamond and diamond jewelry.

1. cut

2. color

3. clarity and

4. carat weight.

Cut: There are different types of cut e.g. Flat cut (parav and polki, rose cut) Michael cut, single cut, brilliant or double cut etc. There are also different shapes such as round, square, octagon, oval, marquise and various fancy shapes such as pentagon, alphabets, star etc. Beads, drops, briolletes are also available in diamond.

Diamond cuts are certified as excellent (the best), very good, good and fair (cut quality in descending order).

Color: Diamonds are found mainly in colors ranging between white and brown or yellow. Some fancy colors such as green, blue, pink, red are found rarely in the nature. These natural fancy colors fetch enormous price depending upon its quality.

Fancy colors are also obtained by treating diamonds. These artificially colored diamonds are not expensive.

As per international standard of diamond grading it is graded in 'D' to 'P' colors. Best white color is graded as D and then E, F, G, H etc in descending order. Color grade from D to H is considered as white. Grade I, J, K and L represent shades light to medium brown or yellow. M, N, O, P grades represent deep brown or yellow color. Grades from 'P' to 'Z' is for fancy yellow, golden, orange or brown. It is difficult for laymen to determine minute differences in shades. Only experts can determine those variations in color.

3. Clarity: Diamonds are graded for clarity as IF (internally flawless), V VS-1, V VS-2 (very very small inclusions), VS-1 VS-2 (very small inclusions) and SI-1, SI-2, and SI-3.The purest is IF and the least purity has a gradation of SI-3.

Fluorescence is one of the inclusions of diamond which lessens brightness or glitter of diamond. Diamond grading certificates mention this inclusion separately as fluorescent or non-fluorescent. Fluorescent diamond has a lesser value.

4.Carat weight: Diamonds are found in various sizes. it is weighed in carats. One carat is equal to 200 mg. Further a carat is divided into 100 parts and this part is called cent. One carat is equal to 100 cents. In general more the weight more the price, less weight fetches lesser price.

Certifying laboratories

There are synthetic and treated diamonds. Synthetic diamonds have very low value.Treated diamonds too have a lesser value.

More and more people buying diamonds are dependent on certificates. However they generally do not know about the standards that determine value of diamonds. The most painful is unethical practices of many certifying agencies. There is no system of authentication of certifying agencies. Many laboratories grade diamonds ingenuinely. Some traders use these ingenuine certificates to cheat their customers. Just one grade up in color enhances value by ten to fifteen percent on an average. Similar things happen with clarity. If a certifying laboratory grades an H color diamond wrongly to G and VS2 purity to VS1, it will enhance price by 25 to 30 percent or so.

GIA certification is much better than others according to the Jewelers, I talked about. To the best of my knowledge they are strictly adhere to the standard. A good news is that Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Is now coming to grade diamonds.

Now onwards, whenever go to buy a diamond refer to above mentioned features to get the full value of your money.

Introduction:

The lure of diamonds is intensified by lyrical ballads, enlivened by timeless tunes, immortalized by legends and love, in the near future expressed by the magical creation from RAJESHSHORI JYOTISALAYA.

A gift of eternity

Diamond is one of the rear charms whose intensity remains unchanged for so many thousand years. Some thought of it as fragment of star, some thought of it as God's teardrop, some thought Cupid's arrow was tipped with diamonds that gave it extra ordinary Qualities. The Greeks believed the five in the diamond reflected their constant flame of love. Today the image of diamond has drawn from theses various routes to enjoy the unique status of being the ultimate symbol of love and eternity.

From Kings and Queens:

Diamonds have been sought the world over, fought for worshipped and used as expression of love, royalty, spirit, invincibility, and magical power. They have travelled from crowns of kings and queens to hands of conquerors to showcases in museums. This regal saga of the ‘Queen of Gems’ is best captured in the artistry of the “King of Jewellery” –Rajeshshori Jyotisalaya. It boasts of a diamond range put together with rear talent, meticulous effort and matchless skill. A special design and development cell creates each piece of jewellery after studying international trends. Exquisite diamond pieces creativity amalgamates oriental and occidental designs. The diamond ring collection epitomises Rajeshshori Jyotisalaya passion to innovate, as well as the passion diamond-evokes in every person heart (not at present, I am trying to get permission from the Govt. of Bangladesh). The finest talent creates this expression of love while being in right to the sense of style and romance a modern woman seeks. In the jewellery sets there are also combination diamond pieces, with touches of pearls, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and other such precious stones. This style is as traditional as it is trendy. The early royals often bedecked themselves with such combination jewellery and so do the modern day fashion icons.

For Marilyn Monroe and you:

Today images of dazzling divas conjure up in one’s mind, at the very mention of diamond. This crystalline stone has found its pride of place in the highest echelons of society at all ages. Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Princes Dina, are some of the prima donnas who symbolise the magnetic appeal of diamonds But no matter how elusive the stone is, it is always within your reach, with Rajeshshori Jyotisalaya. Care for your diamonds:

Prepare a small bowl of hot water with any mild liquid detergent. Clean diamond studded jewellery with a new soft toothbrush. Transfer to a wire strainer and rinse with warm water. Put a dry with soft clothes. Please do not keep diamonds jewellery together as diamonds scratch each other. Do not wear your diamonds while doing rough work like washing dishes. Bring your diamonds to me for a free check up once a year.

How to choose a right diamonds:

• Check for the 4 c’s cut, carat, colour and clarity. cut: it takes a master cutter to revel the brilliance of diamond. Hold of the diamonds to the light and see if it through out a rainbow of colours.

• Carat: This is a measure of weight not size. A small stone may have a higher carat than a bigger looking one.

• Colour: Diamonds may appear colourless but there are actually 20 subtle grades of colour from exceptional white to Tinted colour. The fewer colours a diamond has, the more valuable it is.

• Clarity: The size, location and number of naturally occurring minerals or “inclusions” in the stone provide uniqueness to each diamond and affect its value.
