Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disorder named for German physician Alois Alzheimer, who first described it in 1906. Scientists have learned a great deal about Alzheimer’s disease in the century since Dr. Alzheimer first drew attention to it. Today we know that Alzheimer’s:

Is a progressive and fatal brain disease. More than 5 million Americans now have Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer’s gets worse over time, and it is fatal. Today it is the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States.

Last year I attended two funerals of two very close Friends and they were 10 days apart. The first Man was my age and I met him in 1969.

He contracted Alzheimer's four years ago. The heart break that it caused his wife, who was also our wonderful friend, was distressing to say the least. This Lady had been a Nurse in her younger days and she knew what to expect, The gradual and progressive deterioration of the body and the diminishing mental capacity. Every Friday I would go to their house and look after him for four hours to allow Val and his wife to go to exercises for their body's sake. When he died in hospital, he died because all his muscles had given up and he could not swallow anymore. This wonderful friend of ours attracted 185 people to his funeral. I regarded that as a lot of People.

The other gentleman, I met in 1955 and he had been good friends in New Zealand, He came to Australia and over the years we had separated and drifted apart. He had fallen over in the Street and was taken to the Hospital in an ambulance, not expected to live. I was notified by our relatives in New Zealand of this accident and in the following week, I managed to see him four times and he was failing before my eyes. He had Alzheimer's disease as well but it was in a different manner. At his funeral there were three other people present, apart from me.

I did not believe I will get 185 people to my funeral, but I do hope there will be more than 10. That is just a personal feeling and nothing to do with Alzheimer's. We are not going to discuss the difference of the funeral capacity. That also has nothing do with Alzheimer's either.

Now that we have gone through all the fun things above.

We will proceed to the serious part of this discussion: -

Annual Citizen Test.

Here are some very complicated questions for you to answer,

which will prove that YOU and I do not suffer from Alzheimer's Disease.

Each question is to be answered in your head.

It is not to writen on paper.

If you write it down you will be able to prove

you have not got Alzheimer's Disease.

When you have answered each question to the best of Your Ability.

Scroll down to the page.

To find out the correct answer.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles. As wegrow older, it's important to keep mentally alert. If you don't use it, you lose it!

Below is a very private way to gauge

your loss or non-loss of Intelligence.

1. What do you put in a toaster?

>...

>

>>>

>>

>

> Answer: 'Bread.'

If you said 'toast,' give up now and do something else.

Endeavour not to hurt yourself. If you said, bread, go to Question 2.

Thumbs Up

2. Say 'silk' five times. Now spell 'silk.' What do cows drink?

>

>

>

>

>

>

>

> Answer:

Cows drink water.

Thumbs Up

If you said 'milk,' don't attempt the next

> question. Your brain is over-stressed and may even overheat. Content yourself with reading a more appropriate literature such as Auto World.

> However, if you said 'water', proceed to question 3.

>

>

>>

>

>

>

> 3. If a red house is made from red bricks

A blue house is made from blue bricks.

A pink house is made from pink bricks. A

black house is made from black bricks.

What is a green house made from?

>

>

>

>

> Answer:

Greenhouses are made from glass.

Thumbs Up

If you said 'green bricks,' why

> Why are you still reading these Questions???

If you said 'glass,' go on to

> Question 4.

>

It's twenty years ago, and a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany! (If you will recall, Germany at the time was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany..)

Anyway, during the flight, TWO engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the engine fails before he can do so and the plane fatally crashes smack in the middle of 'no man's land' between East Germany and West Germany..

Where would you bury the survivors?

East Germany, West Germany, or no man's land'?

>

>

>

>

>

>

> Answer: You don't bury survivors

Thumbs Up

If you said ANYTHING else, you're a dunce

You Must Stop. If you said, 'You don't bury survivors', proceed to the

next question.

5. Without using a calculator: -

You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven in Wales.

In London, 17 people get on the bus;

In Reading, six people get off the bus and nine people get on.

In Swindon, two people get off and four get on.

In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get on.

In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on.

In Carmathen, six people get off and three get on.

You then arrive at Milford Haven.

What was the name of the bus driver?

>

>

> Answer: Oh, for crying out loud!

Don't you remember your own name?

It was YOU!!

Thumbs Up

> Now pass this along to all your friends and pray they do better than you.

PS: 95% of people fail most of the questions ************************************************

1. Free your heart from hatred .

2. Free your mind from worries.

3. Live simply.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less.

Fun quiz you have there! :)

I also heard a good way to check for Alzheimer's is to try to name 20 animals in 30 seconds...if you don't do at least a certain number...say 10...you might want to check it out with your doctor...or veterinarian! ;)

I did fail the bus one, I must say.....makes you feel like a real arse!good stuff about Alzheimers tho...I used to have a group in los angeles that I worked w/ at Motion Picutre and Television fund...all actresses, opera singers, hollywood producers, etc, famous people who had it...they were a marvelous bunch and always liked you as they could not remember the previous day if they disliked you. good memories of those people...

May be that is not such a bad idea.

Forget the bad days and only remember the good ones.

I have had a few bad ones, as no doubt all of us have.

Thank you

Mr M good hub. I thought Alzheimers only affected old people. I read an article in my local newspaper about a man who had Alzheimers and he was in his early 50s. And don't worry, your quite a guy, I'm sure you will have an abundance of people attending your funeral when it's your time to go. Loved your comments for the answers to the quiz. Had my laugh for the day, thanks.
