Digestive System Awareness

Most people have little or no understanding of their digestive system. They only know that a meal is eaten, enjoyed and then some time later they have elimination. What occurs in between these events is of litlle or no interest to them.

I have spoken to a few people, and I brazenly ask how they feel with respect to their eating and elimination habits. One person told me that there were an average of two bathroom visits per week! And, sometimes only once a week!

My question was--how many meals do you consume per day? Answer...three meals and snacks each day. As many as nine to twentyone meals were in his digestive system prior to having a bowel movement! I learned that it is quite common for individuals to only go once or twice per week.

Let's face it, you need to go and have a bowel movement at least once each day; preferably two times. It is not good for anyone to wait for several days. The food that was eaten packs up in the colon and begins to putrify. And, the toxins start to do their thing. Some people are carrying around as much as fifteen pounds of fecal matter in their colon. That just is not a healthy situation. By having one or two bowel movements daily, you move that out of your system.

You may have heard that you are what you eat. Well, there's more to it than that. You are what you eat, what you assimilate and what you eliminate!

You may be thinking that there just is no urge to go the bathroom. After all, if there is no urge, why go there for nothing? Some people have "trained" their colon to not move. While still young the person resisted the urge to eliminate. It was just held in until the "need" to go passed. By doing that several times each day, their system became adjusted. And, now they can control most normal urges. And when they are unable to exert control over their colon, they run to the nearest restroom. And, the cycle starts all over again.

The digestive system is smooth muscle. That is what enables the food to be moved thru your system. Go to a library and ask to look at the medical reference books. Then, do some research on the subject. You will learn a whole bunch of valuable information. Look at all of the pictures. Try to get a good understanding of how food is processed; from entering the mouth to exiting the anus.

Educate yourself so that you understand the importance of taking good care of yourself. Learn the vital importance of having a clean colon. The majority of diseases begin in the colon. If toxins are not eliminated regularly, they stay there causing trouble. This is not medical advice. Should you feel that you need such advice, speak to a qualified medical practitioner.

Time and bad habits have a way of catching up to you. Years of neglect can bring on serious health problems. If any of what I've written about pertains to you, please pay heed. This could be your "wake-up" call. It may not be too late. You can start to be more regular. Eat more healthy food. Drink at least 64 ounces of water each day. And, eliminate once or twice a day.
