Tips for Digital Wedding Photos

The bride and groom are usually so busy on their wedding day that without photos to remind them, many of the days events would be forgotten; couples will usually hire a professional digital wedding photographer to capture the most important day of their lives. DVD's have made the wedding day come alive but still images always win the day because they capture a ‘moment in time'.

Fortunately for wedding photographers they can use an assistant to help them get the right shots but if you're a friend taking pictures, then how do you take good shots of the day? Here are some tips if you find yourself at a friend or relations wedding taking photos with your digital camera.

Many amateur photographers make the mistake of taking pictures with a boring background which is not something you want in a wedding photo. Don't worry too much if you can't get a full body shot of the couple as you can get around this problem by taking a portrait shot of them which will solve the problem.

Spectacled guests can be a problem as glare from their glasses obscures their eyes and reflects back at the camera. To avoid people in the shot coming out dark when the sunlight is behind them, unless you know what you are doing, move them so the sun is behind you.

Natural, wedding photos always look better than staged ones but difficult to capture when you are too close so a powerful zoom lens is a great advantage. To avoid missing what will probably be great shots, don't put your camera down because with digital wedding photography you can guarantee the moment you do, something worthwhile will take place.

Digital cameras rely on two things, memory and power and the last thing you want when you take your shots is to run out of memory or for the batteries to die on you. Professional digital slr cameras start at 6 mega pixels and very few compacts are now below that so your card will need to be a minimum of one gigabyte to be on the safe side.

Always remember that the higher the resolution used, the larger the size of prints that can be made so always keep a secure copy of your work so you can re-use them in the future. This is achieved by saving the images to your computer where you can print them out at your leisure on special photographic paper.

Photography is an art form that many people try to master, just like painting but how well your digital wedding photography images of the day come out will be down to your passion for photography.
