Dirt Bike Gear

Ah, finally an article that will tell dirt bike enthusiasts like me more about the correct gear that will make dirt biking the smoothest thing ever!

As you might have guessed by now, I am a complete Dirt Bike Enthusiast and especially spend a lot of time and effort in choosing the most appropriate Dirt Bike Gear for my rides. Actually, it started in early 2000 and once I started dabbling with Dirt Bike Helmet, Dirt Bike Apparel - there was just no stopping! Recently, I have also started fiddling about with Dirt Bike Parts, but that I think is a topic I should save for another day.

I have some real cool Dirt Bike Gear that occupies most of my garage here and chances are you'll find me trying them on evern when I am not in the mood for stepping out of the house :)

So, for those interested in knowing more about Dirt Biking and Dirt Bike Gear, what do you need to know?

Well, I think just because some stuff that you see others wearing in strikingly attractive colours and priced way below what you could actually spend, it does not mean that you have to blindly follow suit. I have always maintained that the three pillars of checking out good dirt bike gear are - (1) Protection (2) Comfort and (3) Ease of Use. In my dictionary, to qualify as good Dirt Bike Gear, you have to score on all three of these.

In the last couple of years, the Dirt Bike Gear industry has advanced in leaps and bounds and some of the stuff you still see on the shelves are things that should have been outlawed and banned ages ago. With the new line of available Dirt Bikes, single-sheath knuckle protectors just don't do, monoshock rear-lifters are passable.

By the way, collecting dirt bike gear is different from using them and I suggest even for collectors, try them out. Get on to those two wheels and give you baby a spin - you will know what works

So, what does it cost to own a good piece of dirt bike gear?

Well, the first thing you need in your kitty is a guide that will give you and idea of what's the best that is available in the market and what are the brands that have led the revolution over the last three decades. For this, I could suggest no better book than - Motocross Racers: 30 Years of Legendary Dirt Bikes.

It's pretty much a must-have, as it has hundreds and hundreds of pictures, articles, comparisons - I even spotted rave reviews of a couple of Giro products that are yet to be launched. So this is the first thing that will help you out.

Secondly, I thin kit all boils down to what you will pay for it - and anything is worth only as much as you are willing to pay for it.

The things that I consider while evaluating how much I would pay are -

(1) Demand for the product - something is not valuable unless it is darned good and everybody wants it!

(2) Originality - You need stock conditiondirt bike gear and not something which somebody has half-modified while compromising on the ease-of-use, comfort or safety

(3) Condition - Lastly, the state of the gear when you receive it.

I would say go for it. For all biking enthusiasts, this book is such a treat and then of course, you have the entire world of snazzy dirt biking held out open to you!
