Dirt bikes are called by another name- Death bikes! Yes, beyond the colorful jackets and other glitzy bike accessories these bikes have high chances to render the rider dead!! The dirt thrown from the tires, which hits back in the form of applauses after a terrific stunt, has likely chances of taking away lives and bringing a haunting silence. The speed of the dirt bike or the death bike has the capability to lead one to a quick and glorious victory and to a quick death. Needless to say, there's no fault with the bike whatsoever, the problem mostly is a minute mistake of a rider. But the common occurrences of accidents (leading to instant death and injuries, both major and minor) have lead to the name ‘death' being synonymous to dirt bikes.

Dirt bikes, also called the off-road motorcycle are specially designed for specific functions. Some of the typical characteristics of the dirt bikes, without which it may not be as ‘cool' as it is now, are its light weight, high-ground clearance, a long suspension travel, small engines, large wheels bearing knobby tires, a narrow bodywork, no faring and so on. These are some of the inherit qualities of the dirt bikes that along with the skill of the rider makes for some marvelous stunts, like the ones in the videos here. More often than not, dirt bikes are subjected to variations or slight modifications to suit particular demands. For example, Motocross, which is a race over jumps, needs large suspension travel (that offers a boost to some roaring jumps and stunts alike), smaller fuel capacities, no indicators and other road legalities and so on, Endura- a long distance travel competition would ideally require more speed with power and ‘trials' - a very specialized form of racing (the most dangerous of the lot - the one where the rider with a bike having no seats, takes his devil recklessly on the tough so-called roads in a half sitting position) gives priority to low weight and quick power.
