Discover Student Card
66Discover Student Card information
Discover Student Card (Discover Student Credit Card is the actual full name) is a good card, in my opinion, with much more good sides than bad ones. I'll talk about this more in the lines below. It's a student credit card (more precisely it's a student cash back credit card) - it can help you establish your credit as a student for your future life and it also serves as a common credit card (and today we can all hardly go by without having one). Let's see some details about Discover Student Card and how it works as a student cash back credit card.
Good sides:
- 5% cash rebates at certain merchants (1% rebate if you spend at other places, formula described in more detail in further text)
- APR here is pretty low, not the lowest, but one of the lowest for sure
- Double rebates if you exchange them for gift certificates or gift cards (I particularly like this)
- $0 annual fee for your Discover Student Card
- Shop Discover Card feature - great feature, e.g. you get 7% cash back for buying from Barnes & Noble if you shop at it from Discover's website. Some other example partners include: Sony, Lego, iTunes and many, many more
Bad sides:
- The way that the rebates are calculated is not the best - 1% if you spent more than $3000 in a year, 0.25% if you spent less than $1500, 0.50% if you spent between $1500 and $3000 in a year
- Rebates limited to $500
What it offers:
- Live support within 60 seconds for your Discover Student Credit Card
- Online servicing options for your Discover Student Card
- E-mail reminders for payments
- $0 fraud liability (especially nice for students)
Summary
Inspite of the bad sides listed above, Discover Student Credit Card is a very fine card. 5% cash backs for certain merchants, chance to double your rewards (as described above), low APR and more make this a good card. Also, Discover Student Card can help a student build his credit rating and can serve as a fine student cash back credit card. This student cash back credit card is one I can recommend. Good luck!
