Disney Carribbean Resort
68A Bit About the Disney Carribbean Beach Resort
The Disney Carribbean Resort is one of the moderate resorts in Orlando Florida. The Disney Hotels are divided into different classses based on amenities and price as follows:
- Deluxe
- Moderate
- and Value.
There are also properties that are part of the Disney Vacation Club and these tend to be studios and suites.
The Carribbean Beach resort is a moderate resort - which means it is right in the middle. Each room sleeps four people comfortably and can accomodate a child in a crib as well. Space is a little tight at only 314 square feet. However if you plan to be visiting the parks all day then this won't be much of an issue. I found that with small children, I would have liked a bit more space.
New for 2009 is that most of the rooms at this property have been redecorated in a pirate theme. The beds are designed to look like pirate ships and the decor goes along to set the mood. Kids should find this to be a lot of fun and may be something that they will remember long after the vacation is over.
The entire resort is set around a large lake - called Barefoot Bay - with white sand beaches. There are hammocks set up along the shore and kids playgrounds as well.
The buildings resemble little Carribean towns and each set are named after a different island. There is a quiet pool for each cluster of buildings and a large theme pool that is for the whole resort.
There are dining options on site including several counter service options and one sit down dining restaurant. A common complaint has been that the dining options are a bit inadequate for the size of the property. But again, if you plan to spend much of the day at the parks - this may not be an issue.
As a guest of the Disney Resorts, you get to enjoy complimentary bus transportation to all of the Disney World parks. Keep in mind that your room may be a bit far from the bus stop, so build a little walking time into your schedule for each day.
Transportation to and from the airport is also included on the Disney Magical Express bus service which is managed by Mears Transportation. This is very convenient and may eliminate the need and cost of a rental car.
There is also free package delivery direct to your resort room for purchases made in the theme parks. Although this will not work for purchases made on the day of your departure.
Overall the Disney Carribean Beach resort is a good choice for families on a budget.
