Many movies are commonly known to be based on books, but researching Disney movies recently I was surprised to learn that many more were based on books than I originally thought. Below are the Disney movies that start with letter F I know of that are based on books and a little info on what they are based off of.

A Far Off Place - This 1993 movie is based on two works by Laurens van der Post.  These two works are called A Far Off Place and A Story Like the Wind.

The Fighting Prince of Donegal - This 1966 film is based on Red Hugh: Prince of Donegal by Robert T. Reilley.

Five Mile Creek: The Complete First Season - This is not exactly a movie, but rather a DVD release of a Disney television show.  The series had three seasons, but currently only the first season has been released on DVD.  The show is adapted from The Cherokee Trail by Louis L'Amour.

Flubber - This 1997 movie is a remake of the 1961 version of The Absent Minded Professor, which is based on a short story called "A Situation of Gravity" by Samuel W. Taylor.

Follow Me, Boys! - This 1966 film was based on the book God and My Country by MacKinlay Kantor.

The Fox and the Hound - This 1981 film was based on the novel of the same name by Daniel P. Mannix.

Freaky Friday - Both the 1976 and 2003 versions of this movie are based on the book of the same name by Mary Rodgers.

Fun and Fancy Free - Is a two part 1947 feature film.  The first part called "Bongo" is based on the short story "Little Bear Bongo" by Sinclair Lewis.  The second part is "Mickey and the Beanstalk" and is an adaptation of the classic Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale.
