Plan for your Affordable Disney Family Vacations

Visiting the Walt Disney World theme park in Florida was the most exciting family attraction I have ever been to. Found in Orlando Florida, I have been a fan of the Disney Characters for as long as I can remember. From those old days of Saturday morning cartoons. Disney has had an impact in everyones life. Roy and Walt Disney were the most imaginative people to ever create fictional characters. Disney having built Walt Disney World Florida, and Walt Disney Land in California, gave us all an opportunity to dream.

I am proud to show my children all of the past great films. From 101 Dalmations to Brother Bear, my children, my wife and I have grown together as a family.

As a child, my parents took us down to the most amazing family theme park in the world. "Disney" World has so many different theme parks within the entire park. Lots of rides and shows. I remember the Space Mountain ride and the Country Bear Jamboree the most from that visit over 28 years ago.

My wife and I decided to take 3 weeks as our affordable Disney family vacations to Disney World Florida, the greatest fun I've had in years.

I was searching the internet for all the details that I can find to help with expenses and such. Wow, what a job that task was. Hours upon hours of finding information. Copy and pasting it to my word processor so I can keep the information for later. Understand that the only way you are going to save money on your vacaion is to do the hard task of research. That's right, there are no short cuts. Yes there are a number of books, folders, cds and things that you can buy to help plan your trip. The problem is that you usually buy these things only to fiind a pile of advertising.

I did a huge amount of research for our vacation. Where to stay, the actual trip was mapped and printed for our easy of driving. (We drove from Southern Ontario) We time estimated our trip so that we knew how far we would travel on a tank of gas and when we would be where to have a meal or break. NOTICE: That we have 3 children and made sure each and every rest stop was mapped for our trip just in case.

Research, research, and research. I was able to pack a huge amount of information into our travel portion. As for our accomodations, we were excited to find ourselves travelling in a slower time which kept our room costs down. I was thrilled to find an excellent guide to help us plan our days in the actual park. This guide will help you in planning your Affordable Disney Family Vacations. A former Disney cast member, Beth Haworth, a Best Selling Travel Writer created a fantastic travel guide to the Amazing Walt Disney World. I used this guide to plan a great deal of our trip. From excellent meal ideas, to planning our day in the park to get the most of each day.

Affordable Disney Family Vacations Tips

Here is just one tip from pages 72 and 73 of the Guide

Beat the lines with FastPass

The FastPass option is one of Disney’s greatest inventions. It is a way to beat the long lines waiting to get on the most popular rides. The FastPass is a special ticket dispensed from a FastPass machine that displays a window of time in which you may return and enter the express (shorter) line for a specific ride. It works like an ATM machine when you insert your park ticket.

HERE IS HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF FASTPASS: Arrive to the park at least 30 minutes before opening time so you are near the front of the entrance. Strategy 1: When you get into the park, head for your most desired FastPass attraction and ride it first. Then go to your next favorite FastPass attraction and get a FastPass from the dispenser and return to it within your allotted time window to bypass the long queues waiting in the regular lines. Meanwhile, fill in the time with shorter wait rides.

Strategy 2: Send a runner ahead with the tickets to get FastPasses for one ride while the rest of the party goes to a nearby popular ride and gets in line; in most cases you can ride one, then almost immediately ride the other.

As soon as you use your FastPass, get your next one. The fastest person in your group can take everyone’s park tickets and forge ahead to the next FastPass machine. Be sure you don’t leave a park ticket in the machine!

FastPass can save you hours of standing in line. With popular rides like Test Track lines can be 2 hours or more by late afternoon and all the FastPasses are gone. If you are one of the last ones to get a FastPass for that attraction, you may have to wait several hours before your turn, but when it is your time frame, you can progress to the loading platform in a few minutes.

Sometimes, not always: If you are in the park early for the Extra Magic Morning Hour, the lines may thin out at the popular rides about 10 or 15 minutes before the park opens to the public. For example, one day we rode Soarin’ at Epcot as soon as we got into the park; when we got off there was a line waiting to ride, but 5 minutes before the park opened to the public there was no line and we rode again.

FastPass tip: Check the FastPass return time before you decide to get your FastPass – it sometimes is a long time on popular rides – I’ve seen 6 hours! If the wait times are really long like this, you are allowed to get another FastPass in between – ask the Cast Member at the attraction before you commit.

Insider tip for picking the fastest line: If you have a choice of the left line or right line, the left line will usually be shorter—it is human nature to pick the right one.
