Best Rides : Disneyland - California Adventure
61Maximise Fun - Minimize Waiting for Rides
Disneyland and California Adventure are both fantastic theme parks. Because of this the crowds can be quite frustrating, especially at the best rides and attractions. Remember the best rides have the longest lines so always follow the advice in this article or get advice from a friend that has recently visited the park you plan to attend. Keep in mind that fast passes are your friend. You can breeze through some of the longest lines if you get a fastpass for that ride at the right time. Usually you can get them closer together in the morning. And you don't have to use the fastpass during the time it says on the ticket. You can use it pretty much anytime after the start time.

Ride Strategies
I usually start with Tomorrow Land and go from there. I would get a fastpass for Space Mountain then go onto Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters and Star Tours. If the lines aren't busy in Fantasy Land then Matterhorn and Peter Pan are definitely rides to hit.
There is that new ride Finding Nemo but if you don't get to go to Disneyland often then I wouldn't waste three hours in line for it. If the lines about 45 minutes then it' definitely worth it. The lines shortest at night near closing or during parades.
Hopefully you can get a new fast pass by the time you get to adventureland and get one for Indiana Jones. Jungle Cruise is always fun too.
You can't go to Disneyland without going on Pirates so make time for that. Also make sure you get onto Haunted Mansion.
Depending on your time you will want to do Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. Fast passe for all if you can because the lines are usually long.
Then there's always places to visit when you want to take a break from rides, such as Big Thunder Ranch and Tom Swayer Island which has been newly redone to add a pirates lair to it.
I don't know if you were looking for an answer for the food portion of your visit but I strongly recommend Carnation Cafe, Hungry Bear Restaurant and Rancho Del Zocalo.
As for California Adventures. You definitely want to hit Soaring over California, California screaming, and Tower of Terror. While your there check out the animation building in the Hollywood back lot area, It's a lot of fun.

The issue with Nemo isn't the number of people waiting so much as the time spent on the ride and the limited number of subs. That said the ride is fun but not the most amazing thing ever... if you've never done it give it a shot but not with a wait over an hour. The best time I've found to go is during the parades, early in the morning or around dinner time.
And no, there are no fastpasses.

I want to try the new Nemo ride, but probably will have to wait years because it was hard enough for my dad to get my brother on the original submarine ride. Now he is bigger and was very sad to hear that the new version still was not made for wheelchairs to go on. I understand it would have been hard to make it happen, but come on if he can fly in a magic carpet without leaving his chair he sure as hell expects to be able to go to a disney park and ride underwater without leaving his chair. He is working on learning to walk and the Nemo ride is one of those things he will not do any other way until he can ride it like a normal person or they add wheelchair accessibilty, thus he will not even see the video version they have for those in wheelchairs.
