Disneyland Park
In order to be a die hard fan of Disneyland, you need to know some of the history and background so when you visit the park, you can look around and know what you are seeing. The Disneyland Park is the original park built by Walt Disney. Disneyland officially opened its doors on July 18th 1955. Today, Disneyland is the largest attraction in Southern California and continues to gain popularity every year. It is quite a sight to see in the dead of summer when the lines stretch for miles and miles.
Disneyland is made up of different areas called "Lands". Inside the Disneyland park you will immediately be on Main Street USA. If you head to the left, you will find your self in Adventurelan, Frontierland, or New Orleans Square. If you go right, you will find yourself in Tomorrowland. If you keep going straight, you will find yourself in Fantasyland and then on to Toon Town. Each town has its own look and feel and is truly amazing to see how they have put things together.
Disneyland is known for some of the larger attractions. The most popular rides that are for adults consist of Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, and The Matterhorn Bobsleds. There are also lost of rides that the young children will love as well.
California Adventure
The California Adventure theme park has not always been a part of the Disneyland Resort. In fact, it was part of a major expansion and opened in February 2001. This park is definitely not as big as the Disneyland park, but there are lots of fun rides and I would say, a lot of different things that the kids can enjoy.
Just like Disneyland, California Adventure is based on themes or areas. You can find the following areas when entering the park. Immediately upon entering you will find yourself in the Sunshine Plaza. If you head right, you will end up in the Condor Flats and then on to Grizzly Peak. If you keep going you will find the Bay Area, The Golden Vine Winery, and the Pacific Warf. At the very rear of the park, you will land yourself at the Paradise Pier.
Most people visit California Adventure for two main rides. The Hollywood Tower of Terror and California Screamin'. However, there are some other good rides like the Grizzly River Run (if you want to get wet) and Soarin' Over California.
Now that you know a little more about each of these parks on the Disneyland Resort, you will have a much easier time planning your trip. As I said before, make sure that you use a Disneyland Vacations guide to help you plan out every detail of your vacation. Doing so will help you be organized and enjoy your vacation that much more!
