Do You Belive In The Devil?

The position the Devil occupies in Christianity

In Christianity the Devil does not have equal importance of that of Christ, therefore,it is not correct to say we believe "in" the devil. What I am saying is that we believe the devil exists, but not in him. He is a negative object of our faith, like sin and hell. We establish no personal relationship with him as we do when we say we believe in Jesus Christ.

In the Christian faith, there is no two parallel principles as fund in dualistic religions. And as the Bible is concerned, the devil is one of God's creatures gone bad. Everything that he is in a positive sense comes from God. But the devil corrupts it and misdirects it by using it against him. All that he has of his own is his will to be independent of God and all he seeks in this world to pull away and drag into his "will" to be independent of God.

The devil is really a physically and spiritual creation of man to explain evil. Just as God is the physical spiritual manifestation of Good. The simple fact is one can not exist without the other. For every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction. the Battle between good and evil, God and Satan is really the universe of Creation and destruction finding a balance as one can to truly exist fully with out the other. IT is to a mortal mind an unfathomable and perplexing question.

yes I believe i the life force that runs in and through all things. and yes I believe in the entities by what ever name we call them that seek to use this energy for that which we perceive and name as being bad or evil as much as those entities we believe and call good.or Divine

What ever the devil's meaning is ,the point is that he is the ALTER EGO of God and that means he will stand there for ever fighting GOOD.

Thank you both to your prospective on this subject. I enjoyed both comments and I can tell a lot of thought went into each one.

There was a time when I had my doubts as to whether the devil existed or not, but with the emergence of strange types of music and rituals and cults which go contrary to sanity, I guess a representative of evil does exist.

I think we all go through a time where we doubt about things such as this and question why. I've noticed over the years, "evil" things seem to happen on a more frequent events. Who is to say things are evil or things are insane, because some very evil acts done you would want to say that person was insane.

I love the way you explain this. I agree, the devil does not have enough importance. Yes, he exists, but he is a negative! Wonderfully simple and understandable!

Yes I as already stated in my first reply  know evil forces, spirits, entity's exist . More often is the case when we learn of a person or persons committing a deed that goes beyond our understanding, we often use the term  he/she is or must be pure evil.

Or the person is insane

Yet I have found many Christians ( as it is mostly this Western religion) that seeks to in blame the devil, and in doing so, we also run the risk of not taking responsibility for our own actions and blaming another, or another cause.

This is clearly seen in Genius  when Eve tells God but it was the serpent that led me to eat of the fruit, and Adam says but it was Eve that lead me to eat the fruit.

In this is a lesson. That while there may be outside forces at play. it is ultimately ourselves that choose our path. God, we are taught gave us the freedom and ability of choice, and it is this that separates us from the beasts of the Field  and the wild creatures. I do not downplay the forces of evil nor do I deny their power, however it is in my own life experience that often the devil need not play a part for us to have the ability to commit acts of evil.

Watch Tower, I think you are completely right. And life is about the choices we choose to make.

Bard of Ely,

I agree with the both of you. Plus I think we could write pages upon pages on this matter. Thanks for taking the time to view my hub!
