Do you have to give up your job to do network marketing?
Ken: That’s the best part about it. No, you don’t. In fact we encourage people to stay in their current employment, work part-time, and do it in your spare time. A working mum for example can fit it in the cracks. A stay-at-home mum with a young baby who needs to be fed, nurture, hugged and all these kinds of things, there are lots of attention, right? But the baby sleeps. So while the baby is sleeping you can make a phone call here, a phone call there, a follow-up here, a follow-up there, it takes five minutes. I’ll give you an example, a guy in our company, you remember the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Before the Olympics he was a brick layer and he was working on the construction of the dormitories for the athletes. He was working 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, getting the venue ready. He built his business during his morning tea break, which is only 15 or 20 minutes, and he would follow them up in the afternoon tea break, which is only 15 or 20 minutes. He had an half an hour for lunch, and he will also do some extra calling then. Just a simple phone call, he built his business just in those little times. He now has a house worth over two and a half million dollars, sitting on the most beautiful cliff overlooking an amazing vista of the ocean and it’s an incredibly beautiful house, and that’s how he started. Just part time, bit by bit, hasn’t laid a brick in the last 5 years.
Isn’t it against the employer’s policy to be working on this part-time?
Ken: I don’t think anything employer can really tell you how to live your life in your own time, outside office hours. And I don’t consider it moonlighting. If you’re setting up a business, that is something that you can do with your choice. In specific countries will have difference laws though.
