WHO IS THE PERSON WHOSE HUB YOU'RE READING?

GET TO KNOW ME

This isn't really a hub (but then, just what is a hub?:). This is more like an advertisement(?) of myself. My hope is that after reading this, people might want to ask me questions or ask me to write about some particular topic that I've had experience in.

Many people ask me all sorts of questions about my past, about what I call my “stupid years”. I've had the kind of life I'm sure nobody would want; drugs, crime, prison, etc. The longest stretch I did in prison was 9 years, 9 months, and 28 days. The shortest was 16 months. Altogether, of my 58 years of life and between 1973 & 2000, I spent 23 years behind bars.

I've been off parole since December 27, 2000. Since than I have not had ANY police contact whatsoever; not even a jay-walking ticket. I am extremely proud to say that now I am a hard-working, tax-paying, and law-abiding citizen!!! Most people will not realize how very much that descriptive sentence means. For those of us who finally managed to break free of our crazy way of thinking; those few words hold a ton of heart-felt meaning.

I should also mention that before all this began occurring I did a 2 year stint in the Army. I spend all of 1970 in Vietnam and in 1971, after my 2 year commitment was completed, I received an honorable discharge; of which, I'm very proud of! (I consider myself a proud patriotic American.) The only reason I mention this (my Vietnam stint) is because many of my family members, to this day, say that all my deviant behavior began after my Vietnam period. I myself don't think so, but who's to say.

So, for those of you that read my hubs, now you'll have some background knowledge about me and hopefully, that will make you appreciate my writings better. Also, as I said earlier, if anyone is interested or curious about prison, Vietnam, or topics mentioned above, send me a request and I'll try my best to give you a complete picture of what it is you want to know about.

I truly hope I'm not sounding like some high, snobby, nose-up-in-the-air type of person. Because, believe me, I am definitely not! I am just an average guy trying to therapeutically help myself through essays and hopefully help someone else.
