Did you know that the Holy Spirit produces a set of Character Qualities in each of our lives?
What is character? Character is who we are on the inside. It's our moral strength that determines right from wrong, it's our ability to remain self-disciplined and follow God's laws regardless of what society says, and it's our strength to handle the bad circumstances of life.
When we spend time meditating on God's word, we allow the Holy Spirit to work within us to make us better people.
In Galatians 5:22-23, we learn how the Holy Spirit tends to our character by using the "Fruit of the Spirit." The "Fruit of the Spirit" can be broken down into the following character qualities:
Inward: love, joy, peace, and self-control.
Outward: longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, and kindness.
Spiritual: meekness and temperance.
How does your character look? If life has gotten the better of you, if you (as I) have found that some of your "standards" have laxed over time, if you feel that God is a distant subject in your life (and quite possibly your household), I invite you to take the time to get reacquainted with God by following these tips:
- Read your bible for a minimum of 5 minutes per day.
- Find a quiet spot in your home to pray.
- Pray alone, but also pray as a family.
- Listen to Christian music instead of your other music.
- Attend a home or online bible study group. (http://www.gospelway.com/)
- Ask your children what they would like to do for fun that would invite your Christian beliefs into your home.
- Ask your spouse to help you stay on track, by spending time with the Lord, together.
I promise that if you include each of these steps in your daily tasks, you will not only find yourself drawing closer to God, but you'll find yourself feeling more content with the circumstances of life.

Hope, about ten years ago my husband would have bad mood swings. Whenever he got into one of his moods, I would put in this one particular Christian song about children wanting to emulate their dads and how dads need to emulate Christ and it always seemed to quite or calm his soul. And Christian music used to give me such an uplift.

Another fantastic Hub! You are really encouraging my spirit this morning, Alyice. Music is definitely a tool I use when I am feeling low or in need of a spiritual boost. Christian music is such a simple way that we can be ministered to, but I'm not sure if many people use it. Thanks for the reminders! :)
