In this do it yourself home repair section of home improvement, I explain some DIY home repair and maintenance tips for home improvement.

There are thousands of moving parts in a house and many of them are bound to foul up at some point of time. There can be pipes burst, wires cross, toilets clog etc.

Homeowners need to keep the most essential tools in their home tool kits to be able to take care of small home repair jobs in and around the house. You need some home repair hardware and home repair tools that will help you in the work. Some of the must-have tools and hardware that you will for most do-it-yourself home repair and maintenance are: Hammer, adjustable wrench, Screwdrivers, tape measure, utility knife, arc-joint pliers, electronic stud finder, paintbrush, putty knife, Torpedo level etc.

DIY Home Repair, Maintenance and Troubleshooting

There are several home appliance that you use on everyday basis including: freezer, refrigerator, clothes dryer, ceiling fan, air conditioner, dishwasher garbage disposer, vacuum system, kitchen ranges and oven, water heater, washing machine, water filter, exhaust fans etc. Because these are all electronic appliances, they are bound to get faulty at some point of time and will need some repair and maintenance. You do many of the repair works yourself and save both time and money.

I always try to fix things around the house, as long as I know how to do it, or it doesn't seem to be that difficult to learn. I do always keep a list of reputable contractors' numbers handy "just in case" I end up getting in over my head.
