Do it yourself Health care
54What...no health insurance?
With the rising cost of healthcare, and the loss of health insurance by many, there is a growing need for do it yourself healthcare. Just think of the entrepreneurial opportunities, a whole new cottage industry will spring up for many venturesome individuals. For example: home surgery for fun and profit. Set broken bones in your spare time, and make money, money, money.
‘Doctoring for Dummies’ will fly off the bookshelves at bookstores across the country. Hospitals will be able to sell their old and outdated equipment on Ebay to intrepid do it yourselfers. There are so many possibilities.
How about a do it yourself health care channel on cable TV: DIY-HCC.
"Tonight on DIY-HCC, appendectomies, a how to instructional infomercial."
And just think of the marketing opportunities. One of those TV sales personalities, much like a carnival barker, pushing hospital equipment.
"Scalpels for sale, only $9.99. Order now and we’ll throw in surgical gloves, masks, and gowns, all for the low low price of $15.95 plus tax. If you act now, and are one of the first fifty callers, you also get a home blood-testing kit, bone setting splints, and cast making material with instructions for beginners. Hurry the phone lines are only open for the next ten minutes.
Now, really, who needs suture when you have duct tape and super glue, I mean, come on people lets get creative.
But seriously...
Ok, so I make light of the health care/health insurance issue, but, kidding aside, it is a serious issue, and not just for those in need of health insurance. Many people who have health insurance and think they are safe might want to check their policy. They may find that it doesn’t cover certain ailments, and further, they may find that there is a cap on how much the carrier will pay out. Many people may find that they are not as secure as they thought they were. They may find that they are on the same sinking ship as the uninsured, just a few decks higher.
