Garlic
Garlic has been shown to successfully cure acne, and although it may not smell so great, it is well worth trying. Rubbing garlic directly on the affected areas several times a day has been known to cure even the most stubborn acne.
It is also suggested that eating up to 3 cloves of raw garlic a day for a month will cleanse the body and keep acne away for good. Garlic is well known for it's potency and ability to cure many ailments.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has many healing properties, it is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal amongst many other things. Tea tree oil should not be applied neat to acne, but diluted in some kind of carrier oil, olive oil will do. It's effectiveness has been proven in a trial carried out at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Australia. It was compared against benzoyl peroxide lotion in this trial and although it was slightly less effective than the benzoyl lotion, the tea tree oil performed at a comparable level over the three months. It is worth mentioning that the tea tree oil took a little longer to work initially, however had much fewer side effects, such as itching, burning and dryness than the benzoyl peroxide.
Colonic Irrigation
While it may not be the most obvious route to take, the congestion most of us suffer in our intestines can have a direct impact on our entire body. Eating a diet consisting of high fat, high sugar and processed foods means we are not able to digest food properly, take too long to digest food and ultimately end up with a digestive system that is struggling to cope. The build up of toxic waste in our intestines can lead to us feeling sluggish, headachey, irritable and can also lead to all manner of skin complaints, acne being one of them. Having colonic irrigation, whether it is just one session or a course of treatments can work wonders for acne, and the body as a whole, giving it a thorough cleanse.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar, in it's organic unprocessed form "with mother" is an amazing tonic. It can be taken neat, or diluted in water, depending on your tolerance for the taste. Two shots taken twice a day for a month has been shown to procude amazing results with acne. You can also apply it directly to the skin should you wish, diluted is probably best to start with. Acne is just one of the things that Apple Cider Vinegar has been shown to cure, and can be taken as a daily tonic to promote allround wellbeing.
It is always worth trying natural acne treatments before turning to medicinal preparations as they kind be kinder to your skin and are much less likely to have unwanted side effects. The results tend to be a little slower with natural treatments, but this is an indication that they are working with your body to cure the problem meaning the results are more likely to be long lasting.
