Will it ever be possible to find that special someone who, is not only completely compatible with me, but can understand my thoughts and feelings as they can their own? Of course, we look to the media to see celebrities in so found ‘perfect’ couples, and then there’s your next door neighbour who seems to be in the best relationship since Zac Efron and Vanessa Hugens, a rather sickening sight (but sigh, one can only turn green with jealousy and murmur, why why why not me?!). Ladies (and gentleman) do not fret, i have come to conclude that soul mates are not a mere myth, and somewhere out there there is a perfect partner for you

So great, you say, but urm, how can i find this amazing identical being? Well we should probably take a look at where you and your soul mate originated from, that is (believe it or not) from the Greek Gods

Apparently, humans originally consisted of four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces, but Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them:

“[Primeval man] could walk upright as men now do, backwards or forwards as he pleased, and he could also roll over and over at a great pace, turning on his four hands and four feet, eight in all, like tumblers going over and over with their legs in the air; this was when he wanted to run fast…Terrible was their might and strength, and the thoughts of their hearts were great, and they made an attack upon the gods... I somehow how doubt this theory, as i myself have indeed two legs, but the psychological meaning of the story does hold some truth: you and your soul mate are destined to find each other. (note: please ladies and gentlemen, you will not find your soul mate over the internet; ‘match.com’ may do a good job, but i suppose it’s a one in a million chance that the person on the other side of the screen is in fact, a) your age b) your gender and c) your soul mate)

Soul mates are also described as Twin Flames, and the question is: is your soul mate identical to you in every way, or does he/she complete you and make up for the things you lack? The answer is, your soul mate is a replica of you in terms of frequency (sense of humour, similar dress sense, etc) but because you two originally came from the same ‘flame’ your soul mate does have certain qualities that you lack, this is why people who find their soul mates feel complete, and the best person they can be, because together with their soul mate they find the qualities that they need, and the ones they need to share.

So can you tell you’ve found your soul mate? Is it an earth shattering moment? Does Zeus himself come down from the sky and personally introduce the two of you? No, i’m afraid, Zeus stays put, but after a variety of research is appears the moment itself is pretty special:

I was also intrigued to discover that when you meet your soul mate, you see something purple as well, as it represents two colours joining together (red and blue), symbolizing the meeting of your soul mate as a completion of two different people making one twin flame.

This is all very well when you have actually FOUND your soul mate, but how do you find them in the first place? Alas, i’m afraid there is no sign post to show you the way, it is all down to your good friend FATE. If you and your soul mate are destined to be in this life, then fate will make sure that you meet. I predict this is why the divorce rate is so high; either people believe they have indeed found their soul mate but then realize the person they married is only a faint replica, or people settle for someone who is less than their soul mate, and realize they do not feel as complete as they should be, and carry on searching.

You may not find your soul mate in this life or you may take awhile to find your soul mate...you might have sat next to your soul mate on the bus! But 16 or 60, i recon there is someone out there for everyone, it bears a nice comfort to know that in the modern society today life can still be influenced by such simple things like fate, karma and your twin flame.
