I wonder do we really understand the true meaning of independence day?How should we actually celebrate our independence day ,the fourth of July.Do our kids, who are the future of the country ,really understand the celebration and true meaning behind it.?Are we adults responsible for all this? I would say, yes.

I work in a motel,as front desk, checking in and interacting with lot of customers everyday.Specially on holidays like fourth of July,I have lot of rush.Out of 100 percent ,I see only 1 person who really thinks or talk about the independence day.Its just because we all have forgotten the importance and true meaning of freedom and so is the same thing we explain to our kids. Most of customers say "hey its a long weekend so we wanted to enjoy".These same thing I hear on the memorial day as well.Do we all remember or even try to remember the freedom fighters who fought for the freedom of our country. How many of us often talk to our kids about the history of our country?Oh ,Lot of questions here huh But no answers. We all have no answers.

I feel that schools should be opened on independence day, celebrate the independence day by asking the students to participate in a play or drama describing the importance of independence day. They should sing together the National Anthem and exchange their views with each other about how they feel about this day. They should be asked about how their family celebrated this day.Students should be encouraged to write essay and articles about history of America, especially focusing onĀ freedom struggle by freedom fighters. In this way we may arouse some patriotism in our kids and love for our country.

The adults should follow similar ways to celebrate independence day.I feel that we all adults,on the independence day and memorial day, should quit smoking or drinking,(Just for these two days atleast),and donate that amount to the veteran funds or any other government funds.I am suggesting to do only those things which we really can do.I am not asking not to enjoy with your family the holiday of independence, but to enjoy it by understanding it and remembering those who gave up their life ,to give us freedom of life, freedom of speech.
